      Science plan dog food

My dog Eddie is something of a pampered pooch and only the best will do which is why we feed him Science Plan dry food. When we bought him from the breeders as a puppy this was the food they were feeding him and they advised that its always best to keep them on the food that are accustomed to so we stuck with this food. I'm really glad we did because since then I have read and heard really good things about it and Eddie likes it so I guess that is all that matters.

We buy this food in big plastic bags. The bag contains 3kg of food and I would say that lasts Eddie about three weeks or so. What's great is that Pets at Home often have this food on offer and you can buy two bags cheaper than normal so its always good to keep a look out. We have a big plastic dog food container on wheels which holds over 6kg of food so we just put it in there and it keeps it fresh and ready to eat. If you don't have a container like this you can store the food in the bag it comes in as there is a resealable top to it so that also keeps it fresh.

This food is dry food and comes in the form of little round pebbles. They are probably about the same size around as a five pence piece but they are thick too so you get a nice chunky pebble. The pebbles are brown and have a hard crunchy consistency to them but if you actually touch them they are a bit greasy and you can tell them have a consistency to them.

Science plan say that this food is, "Precisely balanced nutrition to support lean muscle and healthy vital organs. With clinically proven antioxidants, lean proteins and omega -3s." It is easy to digest and contains highly digestible ingredients for optimal nutrient absorption. Eddie really seems to like this food. He eats it well during the day and the bowl is always licked clean afterwards.

The food is for adult dogs aged 1 - 6 and is a dog food I recommend.

        Great for active dogs

I have a lurcher x and have fed her on Science Plan for a long time now after commercial brands such as Bakers were making her tummy upset resulting in nasty smells! I picked the advanced fitness as my dog needs to run a lot and she is probably more active than some other breeds.

        Cost

As a premium brand with higher quality meat and ingredients the price is more than your typical commerical brands. A 12kg bag from Pets at Home costs £32 but there are often quarterly offers and buy one get one half price on the large bags but also buy one get one free on the smaller bags. There is a chart on the bag that tells you how much to feed your dog according to age and weight. I find a scoop for breakfast and scoop for lunch is perfect for my dog.

        Ingredients

Naturally preserved with mixed tocopherols, citric acid and rosemary extract

        Feedback

My dog loves this food. The smaller size kibbles are brown in colour but don't have an offensive smell, just yor typical meaty scent. I do find my dog eats them too quickly, which is where I prefer the option to buy large kibbles with brands such as James Wellbeloved, as it makes my dog eat slower.

I find that when my dog eats Hills she does not smell, does not get an upset stomach, is fit and active, has a shiny coat and goes to the toilet regularly. My eat eats the food without complaint and I really feel that paying the extra ammount of money means I'm getting better quality and looking after my dog from the inside. I also love the zipper on the top of the bag which keeps the content fresh. Plus my kitten often sneaks a few of the biscuits for herself and vice versa!
