Doggy Dentist In A Packet?
Member Name: MollyWH
Advantages: good for your dogs teeth
Disadvantages: packet is not re-sealable
I really enjoy treating my dogs. I find that it always helps if you find a treat that is also beneficial to your pet.
The Pedigree Denta Stix come in a yellow packet with a dog on the front. The Pedigree logo is also on the front of the packaging at the top. You get 7 Denta Stix in the packet which is a bit of an odd number but I assume this would provide one for every day of the week. Unfortunately the packet does not reseal so you might like to keep the spare stick's in a seal tight container to keep them fresh.
The Denta Stix
The Denta Stix themselves are in the shape of a cross the whole way through so they are very original compared to the design of other dog treats. The stix come in different sizes depending on the size and weight of your dog (there is a chart on the back of the packaging). Pedigree have two different flavours for these Stix which are beef and chicken flavour.
About The Denta Stix
According to Pedigree's website, if these treats are fed, one a day on a daily basis, they are clinically proven to reduce plaque and tartar. Its gently abrasive texture and unique shape can help reduce plaque and tartar build-up by up to 50%.
The unique shape of the stick (cross shaped) means that the chew can get between your dog's teeth so the treat basically cleans your dogs teeth while they are enjoying eating it.
I buy these treats from Tesco and they are available in 2 different sizes, for small and large dogs. You can buy a pack of 7 sticks for a small dog for £1.38 and the same packet for a medium/large dog is £1.74.
These sticks can also be bought in larger packets, which contain 28 sticks, for a small dog these cost £4.94 and for a medium / large dog, these cost £6.94.
Mine (and my Dog's) Opinion
My dogs really enjoy these treats although the only downside is that they do get eaten quite quickly. The stick's themselves are a bizarre textures, they are semi soft as well as being hard at the same time. Unfortunately I am unable to comment on the dental side of these sticks as I do not feed my dogs these everyday and one of my dogs is already overweight and I am trying to help him loose weight, not put it on
The Pedigree Denta Stix are a great treat, they provide enjoyment as a treat for dogs as well as helping protect their teeth and gums. The price of the denta stix themselves is reasonable considering they have other benefits and are not just a bog standard treat.
