      Pets at Home Puppy Milk

When we collected our little puppy he was already properly weaned and eating solid food, so he didn't necessarily need any puppy milk substitute. Having him has been such a good experience so far, but it has still had its very stressful moments. He is a labradoodle and he has inherited the Labradors tendency to eat things that he shouldn't, in his case he's taking a liking to stones. After I left him with someone else for an afternoon he had eaten so many pebbles that he'd given himself a sore tummy. Terrified I called the emergency vet who told me to relax and just keep an eye on him. Thankfully he has passed them all, again thanks to the Labradors strong and robust digestive system in him. The vet told us to give him natural yogurt to help his tummy ache, but after a few days of this when he was feeling like his usual mischievous self again we stopped. I wanted to give him something else to replace the yogurt with that would be better for him and because he'd liked his bit of yogurt so much that's when we noticed this pets at home puppy milk. At the moment he gets a small amount of this after his breakfast.

The puppy milk contains, milk and milk derivatives, fish oil, vitamins and minerals (including taurine and omega 3). It has higher fat levels to be more like the his mother's milk, as it has been enriched with a bit of cream. I can only see benefits to giving your puppy this to drink as it helps to support a healthy heart, visual development, immune system development and it is a tasty treat.

Pets at Home recommend that the puppy milk is best served in 45ml servings, and can be stored unrefrigerated, until it is opened where you can then store it refrigerated to be used within the next four days. The carton it comes in is really easy to open and it pours surprisingly well. The small carton holds 250ml's.

These are available to buy from Pet's at Home stores or from their online website. These typically sell for 84p each or they are usually included in the 4 items for £3 deal.

I think that this product is great, it helps my pup to grow big and healthy while being a tasty treat. I think that this deserves a five out of five and I would happily recommend this to anyone who is considering it.

The perfect occasional treat for your little pup

I have been buying this milk for my puppy since he was 9 weeks old. He is now 5 months and still enjoys this product just as much today as he did the first time. You can pick up a 250ml carton of this particular puppy milk from Pets at Home for 84p, or else you can get 4 cartons for £3. I usually take them up on the multi-buy offer.

Once opened, the milk must be consumed by your puppy within 4 days and should be served in 45ml servings at a time. Personally, I prefer to store this milk in a dry, dark cupboard rather than in the fridge, but if you wish to keep it chilled, then you are able to refrigerate this product.

This milk contains various vitamins and minerals essential for puppy's immune system and development, such as omega 3. With increased fat levels and elements such as cream, this milk is supposed to be equivalent in nutritional value to a puppy's mother's milk. In my view, this is very reassuring as I can relax knowing that giving this to my puppy will provide him with the vital nutrients that he needs to grow into a strong and healthy adult dog.

Bailey loves this milk and seriously cannot get enough of it. No sooner have I poured it into his dish, but he is over lapping it all up. Puppy milk encourages lapping so this is a beneficial aspect of providing your puppy with a small amount of it every now and again.

I use this milk to make Bailey scrambled egg - his favourite and I am happy in the knowledge that this is good for him and is not as harmful to his immune system as regular dairy milk, which should never be given to puppies. He is fed puppy milk only as an occasional treat however, as I feel that giving him this milk too often, or perhaps giving him too big a serving of it would upset his stomach.

Overall, I think that this product is good value for money as it lasts for the whole 4 days in which it can be used and my puppy loves it. I find that it provides my puppy with a more tasty alternative to water (well thats what I interpret from his quick lapping up of it anyway!) and also has taught him how to lap. All in all a great product that any puppy owner should have in my opinion.
