Fleischer Betty Boop Red Bikini Surfer
by alyson29 The Betty Boop figurine I am reviewing today is one of her surfing, which is rather unique, as the majority of collectables within the range see Betty fully dressed wearing extremely fashionable clothes, designer stiletto heels and various items of huge sparkling jewellery. The figurine is manufactured by Hearst Holdings Inc ... who own the Betty Boop trademark and their official stamp can be seen on its' underside. Betty stands at 12 inches high and as the above-mentioned picture shows, we see her proudly showing off her extremely curvaceous figure in her red and white polka dot bikini. Betty is extremely brave wearing a strapless top as if she's not careful she will find that all of her surfing could result in her losing it in the waves of the sea! The figurine is manufactured from resin and is extremely well made. We see Betty standing on her yellow surfboard, which has been edged in red and it rests in between the extremely lifelike blue and white swirling waves. She is in a slight crouched position and bare footed, which is a rarity for Betty, particularly as she loves her designer shoes! Her arms are outstretched with her fingers poised upwards as she battles with the strong current. Betty would not be Betty if she didn't wear a little jewellery and this figurine shows her wearing a pair of large gold hoop earrings. This is the only figurine I have ever seen that does not show her displaying an array of jewellery, such as necklaces, bracelets and brooches, which clearly would not be suitable for the task in hand! Each and every one of the Betty Boop figurines show her gorgeous black glossy curly hair by way of eight points along the top of her head and seven on the rear. She always looks stunning no matter what she does and this collectable shows her huge gorgeous green eyes and ruby red lips. The figurine is considerably heavy considering its' size and is beautifully made with no attention to detail being spared. As Betty wears very few clothes, this is one of the more simple figurines with no further areas for me to review. I was lucky enough to purchase my figurine from a shop owner who would regularly provide me with a rather generous discount due to my valued custom! Sadly, he had no choice but to close due to lack of business. You are able to purchase Betty Boop Surfing from Amazon for £39.99 plus £5 postage and packing. Whilst it is not something I own, this figurine is also available in 2 and a half feet and costs around £80. However, hubby will be pleased to learn that this is nothing something I intend to purchase! As this is such a gorgeous well-made figurine with no design faults, it receives 5 out of 5 dooyoo stars from me. I hope you found my review useful and I would thank you for reading. Fleischer Betty Boop Fishing
by alyson29 Over the past couple of weeks I have been reviewing a number of the gorgeous figurines within my rather large Betty Boop collection and I hope you have been enjoying reading them. This review discusses the recently launched Betty Boop Fishing collectable, which I recently purchased from Amazon with my Dooyoo vouchers. The ... gorgeous hand painted porcelain figurine stands at approximately 26 cm high where we see Betty sat on a tree trunk with a fishing rod in her hand. The trunk looks identical to that of the real thing, as the porcelain has been carefully calved to exhibit the tree's grooves. This piece particularly appealed to me, as other than Danbury Mint figurines, many of the Betty Boop collectables seem to be in standard colours, such as black or red. Betty wears a pretty khaki green mini skirt, which shows off her sexy long legs, which are poised in a very elegant position. Whilst not many women would contemplate fishing whilst wearing stilettos, Betty is the exception, as she proudly displays her high black heeled shoes. She wears a light brown short sleeved top with matching collar, where we are able to see four tiny buttons that have been carved into the porcelain. Her arms are positioned so she can carefully hold her black fishing rod, which has an almost transparent piece of sturdy plastic hanging down for her line and on the end we see Betty's catch, which is a rather cute orange and brown fish. She wears shiny gold coloured bangles on both of her wrists and a pair of large matching earrings. Her brimmed hat is in a beige colour and displays a khaki green band to match the colour of her skirt and there are two tiny decorative golden studs on the one side. Betty most certainly looks the part wearing her khaki green and is ready to catch more fish for her supper. The base of the figurine is approximately 8½ cm in diameter and I think it is intended to resemble earth. However, this part of the figurine isn't particularly impressive as the "earth" is too light a colour and there are a number of slightly raised light blue circular areas, so I'm really not quite sure what these are supposed to be. Betty always looks totally made up with her huge gorgeous green eyes and long black eyelashes. To finish her look, she has ruby red lips and blusher on her cheeks. The underside of the figurine displays the official stamp of Hearst Holdings, who own the Betty Boop trademark. You can purchase Betty Boop Fishing from Amazon for £41.99 plus £3.25 postage and packing. The figurine is despatched from the retailer Just4ugifts and my experience after purchasing three figurines from them, is simply superb. The communication is first class and the collectables have all reached me in mint condition within a week of ordering. I highly recommend this figurine and consequently, it receives 5 out of 5 dooyoo stars from me. I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading. Read the complete review |

Fleischer Betty Boop in Red Car
by alyson29 If you've been following my reviews, you'll be aware that over the last week I have been assessing some of the figurines in my large Betty Boop collection. I'm embarrassed to say that I own over 60, but as I don't smoke and I rarely drink, I like to be able to treat myself when I can. The figurine I am reviewing today is Betty in her ... car. In my opinion, this figurine is quite unique, particularly as the majority of Betty Boop collectables are in a standing position, but this one sees Betty and her dog Pudsy sat in her car ready to go off for a spin. The figurine is extremely heavy and measures 25cm long, 15cm wide and 23cm high. This particular figurine is available in a variety of colours, but my favourite is the one I own, in the colours as displayed in the photograph as above. The Hearst Holdings Inc, who own the Betty Boop Trademark, manufacture the figurine and the underside displays their official stamp. The figurine is manufactured from porcelain and is bright red in colour. Betty is sat in her car, but appears somewhat uncomfortable and not at all elegant as her legs are separated to fit around the cute steering wheel. Her feet are placed in the tiny foot well and she wears stiletto heel black shoes, which I find extremely impossible to wear when driving! She wears a black glitter dress, but a criticism I have is that the glitter constantly falls off the dress and onto the floor of the car. She wears white driving gloves and her left hand rests daintily on the black steering wheel, which is situated in the centre of the dashboard. Her right hand rests casually on the side of her seat, which has been designed to resemble that of material and looks identical to the seats that were found in old-fashioned cars. Her pretty dress has a white collar and displays a matching white scarf around her tiny neck. The rear of her scarf creates a "Biggles" type effect as it flows behind her. She wears a black hat over her gorgeous black curls with a contrasting white band. Betty always tends to wear lots of chunky gold jewellery and in this figurine, she displays a pair of large gold hoop earrings. Betty's eyes are huge and a gorgeous shade of green and the look is completed with her stunning long eyelashes. Her ruby red lips are puckered and she's raring to go. Betty's dog Pudsy is sat faithfully by her side and leans out to touch the outer section of the car. He looks so cute with a single black spot on his back and his mouth is opened to display his tiny pink tongue. His ears are standing upright as if they're being blown by the wind as they speed along the roads in their car. The car itself is absolutely gorgeous as it displays red, white and black wheels and a windscreen where foil has been used to create the glass. The attention to detail is simply superb as it exhibits a running board on both sides of the car, which has real-life indentations. It has two silver coloured headlights, which have been painted yellow to give the impression of a light beam. The front of the car has been painted in black and red stripes in order to resemble that of the radiator and there are shiny silver bumpers on both the front and rear. One of the features I love about this figurine is the exhaust as we can see a huge cloud of "smoke" when has been manufactured from bubbles of porcelain. Whilst no attention to detail has been spared, there are quite a few designer faults on my particular figurine, as the foil used for the windscreen has not been fitted correctly and is jagged in some areas. Another problem is that there are a few areas on Betty's leg that have not been painted and a section inside the car shows a number of air bubbles. However, in my opinion, this is still a gorgeous collector's piece and when displayed in a cabinet, the faults do not show and to be honest with you, I wasn't even aware of them until I examined the figurine for the purpose of this review. I bought many of my pieces from a local shop that provided me with a rather generous discount due to my valued custom. Unfortunately, business was slow (other than my purchases!) and sadly he had to close, so I now make my purchases from Amazon with my Dooyoo vouchers. I've checked for an up to date price and as of July 2010, this figurine is selling for £59.99 plus £4.00 postage and packing. Unfortunately, this figurine loses one star due to its' designer faults, which most likely differ from one figurine to the next. Consequently, it receives 4 out of 5 dooyoo stars from me. I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading. Read the complete review |
