Betty Boop Cool Breeze Black Glitter
by alyson29
I have been collecting Betty Boop figurines for almost five years; during which time I have massed a considerable amount. I ceased making any further purchases directly after Christmas as my display cabinets were becoming rather overcrowded and I had to eventually draw the line as my collection was getting a little out of hand. ... However, I will still seek out the rare piece on ebay. Official Betty Boop figurines are manufactured by the Hearst Holdings Inc who are also the owners of the Betty Boop trademark and a piece they introduced a couple of years ago is named Betty Boop Cool Breeze. There are many variations of this figurine and whilst Betty has been modelled on Marilyn Monroe's classic and very famous pose, the position of her dress alters in the different figurines. Unfortunately, Dooyoo have not used the image I provided, which is a shame as this is an absolutely stunning figurine, so I will do my best to explain why I decided to add her to my extensive collection.
The hand painted resin figurine weighs approximately 800 grams and measures 12 inches in height and whilst I already owned the white version it was the black that also captured my eye due to its beautiful eye catching sparkles of silver glitter, which covered Betty's dress. Whilst the white figurine is attached to a black glossy circular base, which seems to be the customary colour used by the manufacturer, I liked the fact that they chose a scarlet red for the black dress figurine, which is a beautiful contrast to the black and silver glitter in Betty's dress. Betty is a lady who possesses the most stunning and extremely curvaceous figure and in this figurine we see her displaying the full length of her long slender legs. Betty's arms are positioned at the front of her body where she is desperately trying to prevent her dress from being lifted and whilst she has succeeded at preventing it moving in the front, the sides have been captured by the wind and have blown as high as her shoulders.
Betty's strappy dress has been created to replicate the one worn by Marilyn Monroe where it is tight fitting to emphasise her bust and displays the most outstanding workmanship and attention to detail. Each of the folds in the skirt section has been illustrated by creases in the resin, which create the illusion of real fabric and it is the dress that makes this figurine a real winner for me. Betty is a lady who adores her shoes and I would imagine that her wardrobe resembles that of Imelda Marcos, as in each figurine she is wearing a new design. She always opts for high sexy heels and in this figurine they have been created to perfectly mirror her dress complete with stunning silver sparkles. Betty has opted for a modest amount of jewellery and wears a golden coloured pair of hoop earrings together with a golden beaded necklace.
Her facial features are identical to those in all of my other figurines where her huge green eyes look upwards and are framed with her beautiful long black eyelashes and perfectly groomed eyebrows. She possesses a cute tiny nose and her ruby red lips are always puckered. However, whilst her features are no different to the other figurines that I own I feel she displays a coy expression and who wouldn't if their dress was about to take off due to the breeze below their feet? Betty's black glossy curls are illustrated by eight curvy points that run along the top of her head with a further eight curves running along her hairline, which perfectly frame her cute face.
Unfortunately, here comes the negative point with this figurine and that is the glitter on Betty's dress, which is an absolute nightmare, as it falls off each time I touch the figurine. Consequently, she is rarely handled, but each time I dust her, which is an extremely problematic task, I find I am locating the glitter elsewhere and at present, she is displayed in my cabinet with a shiny silver face! The manufacturer has corrected this problem with newer figurines, but as far as I am concerned, it is a major issue with the older figurines, as over a long period of time I believe the glitter will totally vanish, which would spoil the overall appearance. Due to this issue I am removing one star, which is a shame as otherwise this figurine would have been totally perfect.
If you are interested in purchasing Betty Boop Cool Breeze she is available in a choice of three colours, which are black, white and red and it is only the black version that displays the glitter. She can be purchased from all good Betty Boop retailers and at the time of writing Amazon are selling her for £46 plus £4.06 postage and packing, which is a little excessive as I picked mine up from a high street retailer for £39.99.

Betty Boop Sitting Sideways
by alyson29
My love for Betty Boop began in September 2007 when I bought two figurines with absolutely no intention of purchasing any more. However, over the years I rapidly added to my collection, which now stands at 136 beautiful figurines. The figurine I am reviewing today is quite simply named Betty Boop Sitting and I'm fortunate to own two ... with one displaying Betty wearing a lilac coloured dress and the other in blue.
The hand painted resin figurine is slightly under a kilogram in weight, measures approximately 9 inches in height and whilst the design is fairly basic it is amongst my favourites, particularly the one in blue as Betty tends to regularly appear in a red dress. If you are familiar with the character of Betty Boop you will be aware that she possesses an extremely curvaceous figure and in this figurine she wears a dress that gives the impression that her cleavage is about to burst out of the bodice!
The design of the dress is simply stunning where every attention to detail has been considered. This is an area I adore in respect of the majority of the figurines that I own as Betty has been designed in such a way that the resin displays tiny creases in the appropriate areas. Her beautiful dress illustrates eye-catching puff ball style sleeves, which subsequently enables us to witness her slender arms with her perfectly formed fingers, which are positioned on the rear of her dress. Betty's long sexy legs are situated in a rather seductive pose with her left hand resting on her knee. I love the design of her dress where the skirt section rests neatly on the top of her thighs and it flows seductively against both sides of her body and around her trim bottom.
Betty is a lady who almost always wears the most stunning high heeled shoes and in this figurine she wears sexy stilettos to match her beautiful dress. Both of her tiny wrists display a golden coloured hoop bangle, which match her earrings. For the purpose of this review I am scrutinising both the blue and lilac coloured figurines; each of which display silver sparkling glitter within the paint used for the dress. A problem I have experienced with the majority of my glitter style figurines is that each time they are touched a small amount of glitter falls off. Fortunately, this is not the case with either of these figurines.
Betty's beautiful black glossy curls are illustrated with eight curvy spikes that run along the top of her head with a further eight being located around her hairline. Betty's stunning and huge green eyes look upwards, which gives her a rather dreamy and far away appearance. She possesses a tiny and rather cute nose with her ruby red lips always being puckered. Betty firmly sits on her base, which displays the familiar logo of the manufacturer and owner of the Betty Boop trademark, namely The Hearst Holdings Inc.
Cleaning this figurine can be somewhat of a challenge with just a lint free duster, so a small clean paintbrush enables me to access any hard to reach areas. I would point out that I would previously attempt to clean my figurines with a normal yellow household duster, but unfortunately, tiny fibres would catch on the raised areas of resin. As previously stated, this figurine is available in red, black and lilac and all of these colours are readily available and at the time of writing they can be purchased on Amazon for £42.99 inclusive of postage and packing. I had considerable difficulties in obtaining my blue version as all Betty Boop retailers were always out of stock. However, I eventually tracked it down on ebay and offered a very cheeky £20 and was amazed that the seller accepted. I can highly recommend this figurine and as a result, she receives 5 stars from me.

Betty Boop Shelf Sitter Figurine
by alyson29
Since September 2007 I have been collecting Betty Boop figurines where my stunning collection now stands at 136 different pieces. Whilst I own the majority that are available I am now at the stage where I can fit no further figurines into any of my seven glass display cabinets so I do not intend adding to my collection other than if I ... discover a rare piece on ebay. A figurine that joined my collection in the early days is named Betty Boop Shelf Sitter and this review discusses my thoughts.
I don't generally tend to collect figurines that are less than 12 inches in height due to the fact that they seem to lack attention to detail, but I was attracted to this one as it is the only figurine that I'm aware of that will sit on the edge of a shelf. The hand painted resin figurine measures 10 inches in height and is fairly light weight. Betty is a very curvaceous lady and in this figurine she wears a pretty burgundy coloured strappy dress adorned with sparkling glitter. However, the grumble that I have with the majority of my glitter figurines is that tiny pieces continually fall off each time Betty is touched, so I assume with time that it will all eventually vanish. The rear of the figurine is as equally exquisite as it perfectly displays Betty's tiny waist. I always love the attention to detail in Betty's dresses, as the manufacturer has perfectly captured a realistic appearance where small creases have been created within the resin to give the illusion of fabric.
Betty's long slender legs are positioned in such a way, which allow her to sit on the edge of a shelf although this is where my problem occurred. As Betty's body juts out slightly when she's perched on the edge of a shelf I was unable to place her into one of my glass cabinets so I placed her on top of the mantelpiece. However, I accidentally knocked her whilst dusting only a matter of weeks after her purchase and she fell to the floor! Thankfully, there was minimal damage, which surprised me, but it was necessary for me to superglue her arm back on! Betty is a lady who loves beautiful shoes and in this figurine she wears a pair of high heeled stilettos that match the colour of her sparkling dress.
In the majority of the figurines that I own Betty wears her signatory yellow garter adorned with a red heart, which is worn on the thigh of her right leg. Her black glossy curls are always depicted by eight curvy spikes that run along the top of her head with a further eight curves running around her hairline. She wears a yellow coloured bangle on each of her tiny wrists and a pair of matching earrings. Betty adores being perfectly groomed and her huge green eyes look sideways and are framed with her long black eyelashes and stunning eyebrows. To complete her looks she wears ruby red lipstick on her puckered lips.
Cleaning Betty is a relatively easy task by way of a lint free cloth and a small clean paintbrush to access any hard to reach areas. To ensure the authenticity of the figurine, the manufacture and owner of the Betty Boop trademark always display their familiar image on the underside. If you are interested in purchasing this figurine it is available from all good Betty Boop stockists and at the time of writing it can be obtained from Amazon for £33.50, which in comparison with the price of the larger figurines, is pretty good value for money. I can highly recommend this figurine, but would suggest you place Betty out of arm's reach and not make the same mistake as me!
