      Not for me

My daughter just got this doll for christmas as it was something she had wanted for ages here Nana bought her it.

She has already got the baby annabelle so I was keen to see what this doll had to offer.

The doll comes in a lovely package with quite a few accessories which include:- nappies, a dummy, a bottle, an ice cream, a potty, a bowl and spoon and some "baby food".

My daughter was keen to get started as soon as she opened the package. The thing that I thought was lacking first of all were any clear, consise instructions it took my husband and my dad to figure out how to work her which was quite entertaining to watch but also quite time consuming.

The basic functions of the doll are that she has a dummy which when you put it in her mouth makes her fall asleep. The bowl and spoon can beused to feed her the fake food. The doll only comes with 2 packets of this so you are expected to buy more of this once it has been used. The feeding of the food we found quite a messy experience and not particularly easy. I certainly wouldnt buy more food if it is this difficult to do. The bottle that it comes with can be used to feed her with water and this can just be refilled from the tap. The water makes her cry real tears when you squeeze her arm. The water also goes through her system and makes her wee which my daughter found highly amusing. The only problem we had with the water and the nappies is that when we took her in the car my daughter had fed her some water and made her wee and the wee soaked through the nappy and went all over my daughter and the car seat which wasnt great so not sure what we did wrong there.

My daughter has played with the doll quite a bit but it is not as good as I expected and certinly not as good as the baby annabelle in my opinion.

She is fully bathable, although because she has holes for her "wee and poo" it's a bit of an effort getting all the water out of her. Because of this she doesn't require any batteries and does not make any sort of noise although her limbs are fully moveable.

This doll is still a favourite of my Daughters and with all the accessories and clothes available, there are so many different modes of play to enjoy.

Summary: Little girls will love playing Mummy

Little girls will love playing Mummy

My Daughter drove me mad for this doll so I have in in the end and Santa got her one.

The doll comes with quite a few different accessories including some nappies, a dummy, a bottle, an ice cream, a potty, a bowl and spoon and some "baby food". The nappies and baby food are available to purchase separately in refill packs when you run out as you only get a couple with the doll.

So what does she do?! Her dummy is magnetic, so when you put it in her mouth she closes her eyes so she is asleep and when you take it out she awakens and opens her eyes. The ice cream, when dipped in cold water and put to her mouth, makes pink markings around her mouth, looking like she has eaten ice cream, which disappears as the water wears off. The bowl, spoon and food are all used together to feed her, once you have fed her the brown coloured stuff, you sit her on the potty and push her down and she "poops" it back out. I never bought a refill of the food after the 1st attempt as it was quite difficult to get it all out of her system. The bottle you fill with water, but make sure she's wearing a nappy as it pretty much runs straight through her, although if you squeeze her arm, the water also makes her cry real tears.

A pretty and robust doll that allows a small child to feed and change nappies

This doll caused much amusement the Christmas my daughter received it because she undressed the doll, gave it a bottle of water and then handed it straight to her brother - who ended up with a damp patch on his trousers!

If your child is using this doll a lot then I'd recommend buying cloth nappies to protect from the leaks (even though it's only water) and to give the whole experience of 'caring for baby'. I found some very cute shaped blue towelling velcro ones on Amazon. (They did pink ones as well) . The doll comes with a couple of nappies but they're not designed to be re-used (as the manufacturer wants you to buy more) and the tabs give out on them quickly. I found the towelling nappies cheaper than buying lots of Zapf Creations nappies and it means I don't need to stress about how often my daughter gives her doll drinks of water.

After hearing from other families of the difficulty of cleaning out the internal tubes of the food (and having to throw away the doll when the food inside went mouldy because it couldn't be cleaned completely) we decided to hiding the sachets of food powder that came with the doll. Luckily our daughter didn't notice as she was too busy trying out the ice cream. This does mean we haven't tried out that particular feature.

The ice cream works - it causes pink marks to appear on the dolls cheeks without causing any mess, but you do need a supply of icy water to dip the ice cream into. The pink marks on the dolls face when 'eating' the ice cream are caused by the cold temperature. There's nothing special about the little flannel that comes with the doll - it works by warming up the doll's face so there's no problem replacing it if (when) it gets lost.

For some reason my daughter insisted on getting the boy version of this doll but the basic way they work is the same and the ice cream and accessories are the same (pink ) for both dolls.

My daughter has now had this doll for just over a year and it is doing well. Toys (and other things) often seem to break when my daughter plays with them but this doll is looking pretty close to new so has lasted very well - despite riding the scooter and being dragged around on the sledge. I would recommend this doll (and the similar follow ons) to any little girl who wants to get involved with caring for her 'baby'.
