Advantages: Nicely made toy

Disadvantages: The shape and face are slightly off to my way of thinking.

I bought this doll on sale, for £5, just after my daughter and I had enjoyed watching Beauty and the Beast together, and put it away for Christmas.

The doll is a soft, rag doll type. She is very slim with large breasts and twig shaped legs and, to a lesser extent, arms. This means she's not really shaped like any humans we know, and she's much slimmer for her height than any adults I know. Her face is very flat, and I'm not sure my daughter recognises her as the character as a result.

The hair is soft and full, and is sewn in a loop, so there are no ends to get frayed or caught. This seems very practical, as well as giving extra volume.

For clothes, the yellow dress, gloves and shoes are pretty and do look a lot like the film dress, it could do with an extra ruffle half way down. My daughter's favourite colour is yellow, and she loves that the dress means it matches with a hard hat!

The big test for me, though, is how often she gets played with... and Belle got played with once. I think my daughter just didn't recognise her as being from the film. If your child is a big fan of Disney Princesses or rag dolls, it might be worth buying, but I wish I hadn't bothered.

Summary: Would be great for some children, just not mine
