~~ Betty Boop Being Chased ~~
I have a huge passion for collecting Betty Boop figurines and I am now at the stage where I cannot make any further purchases. One of the reasons is that I am stuck for storage space and the other than I own almost all of the larger figurines that are available. I say "larger" figurines as I only collect those measuring 10 inches or more as I feel the smaller ones lack the intricate detail. During the autumn of last year I became aware of the soon to be launched new collection and I fell in love with the prototype images that I had been privileged to see.
When I saw the figurines listed in a colour brochure I was amazed at their glorious colours as they are far more impressive than many of my older pieces. Once the figurines were launched I limited myself to purchasing just three, but I was lucky to receive a few more of the collection for Christmas with this review discussing Betty Boop Being Chased. The gorgeous resin collectable stands at 30 cm in height and weighs around one kilogram. The figurine displays Betty's faithful doggy friend named Pudgy who very rarely makes an appearance with his mistress. As with the majority of the figurines that I own Betty's feet are firmly attached to a black glossy circular base, which enables the collectable to be safely and securely displayed. Despite making her first film some eighty years ago, Betty is still a much loved sexy icon who adores displaying as much naked flesh as she possibly can.
This figurine displays Betty wearing a very revealing strapless dress with her pooch tightly gripping onto the hem with his teeth. What I love about this new collection is that whilst each and every one of the Betty Boop figurines that I own have been hand painted, a handful of them show a number of errors where the paint has been a little carelessly applied. The vivid red colours of Betty's dress have been perfectly painted onto her slender and curvaceous body to provide a glossy finish and there are tiny ruffles and creases in the resin to create the illusion of real fabric.
Pudgy is an absolutely adorable white dog with the odd black patches and despite him being quite small, the manufacturers, namely The Hearst Holdings Inc, have carefully hand painted each little detail from his eyebrows to his tiny nose. The majority of the newly launched collection of figurines display Betty with a considerably larger chest and her rear end always seems to be poking out behind her! Another point I love about Betty Boop figurines is that they are very smooth to the touch, so they are clearly well made.
Betty's feet display a pair of high heeled vivid red shoes to match her sexy dress and her customer sexy golden coloured garter adorned with red heart is displayed on her slender left thigh. This is a lady who has expensive tastes as she loves beautiful jewellery and on each of her slim wrists we are able to witness a golden coloured bangle and matching hoops in her ears. Betty's black glossy curls are identical in every figurine that I own unless she is wearing some type of headwear and her locks are depicted by eight curvy spikes running along the top of her head with a further eight curves located around her hairline. I would love a huge pair of eyes like Betty's as well as her long black eyelashes. She is a well groomed lady with her perfectly shaped eyebrows and puckered lips.
On the underside of the base is the familiar logo of the manufacturer together with four small circular pads to enable the figurine to securely display. Cleaning the figurine is a relatively easy task by way of a cloth and a small clean paintbrush for accessing any hard to reach areas. However, all of my figurines are safely stored behind glass, so the chore of cleaning them is carried out only twice a year. Betty Boop Being Chased is an adorable figurine and is available from all good Betty Boop stockists. At the time of writing she can be found on Amazon for £50 inclusive of postage and packing. 5 stars from me together with a huge recommendation.
