“ Brand: Danbury Mint / Type: Betty Boop Figurine „
As I am a huge fan of Betty Boop I am constantly trawling the internet in my bid to find new figurines. Over the last couple of years I have spent an absolute fortune with Danbury Mint, an internet company who sells hundreds of high quality collectables, including Betty Boop figurines that cannot be purchased elsewhere. Approximately one month ago I spotted a new addition to their website, namely Bo-Peep Betty, so a purchase was made and this review discusses this gorgeous figurine. Bo-Peep Betty is manufactured entirely from porcelain and stands at 10½ inches and is fairly heavy at just under a kilogram when including her wooden base. She is beautifully presented and is delivered in a decorative cardboard box and firmly fixed with Velcro straps, styro-foam and protective packaging. The doll needs to be gently removed where two metal pins are noticeable on the underside of her feet. These need to be firmly placed into the holes contained within the black lacquered wooden circular stand, which has four tiny pads on the underside to enable the figurine to be firmly and securely displayed. Betty is absolutely stunning and has been carefully hand painted down to each fine detail. Her left arm needs to be gently manoeuvred so that she appears to be saluting, as it is connected at the shoulder with a length of elastic that is discretely hidden inside her petite porcelain body. Her head can also be manoeuvred into the required position and accompanying the figurine is a small sheet of cardboard detailing how each section of the doll should be displayed. Her brass coloured metal staff adorned with a cute bright blue satin bow is placed into her cupped fingers in her gloved white hand with its' base resting on the black display stand. Her dress is considerably eye catching with its' two layers of real fabric; one of which displays pink and blue stripes and the other blue and yellow hearts and to complete the girlie effect Betty wears a pretty pink satin bow, which is located at the centre of her waist. The dress has been perfectly made with tiny and neatly stitched hems and if I peek underneath her dress I am able to witness her thigh length white stockings with their decorative pink trim on the hem. As with the majority of the Betty figurines that I own, her customary white lacy garter is located on the top of her long slender left leg. Betty is a lady who adores beautiful shoes and this figurine shows her wearing a pair of shiny black high heeled stilettos, which aren't really appropriate with the image she is trying to nursery rhyme image that she is trying to portray. To keep her modesty warm Betty wears a white fabric net petticoat. The bodice of Betty's dress has been beautifully created and is hand painted with a glossy blue paint and emphasises her ample bust. Yellow coloured criss crosses have been painted vertically to create the illusion of ties and to complete the bodice section the neck has been finished with real lace, which connects to her white puffed laced sleeves. Betty wears a pretty pair of pearl and gold droplet earrings and her huge green eyes look sideways, her eye lashes are long and her brows perfectly groomed. She wears ruby red lipstick on her puckered lips and a little blusher on her cheeks. Her black glossy curls are illustrated with eight curvy spikes that run along the top of her head with a further eight curves situated around her hair line. Accompanying the figurine is a wide brimmed light brown straw hat adorned with a huge pink satin bow and this neatly sits on Betty's head. To complete her Bo-Beep image, Betty's faithful furry friend, namely Pudgy the dog, is dressed up in a cute little sheep outfit and he looks so adorable! The manufacturers have even created sheep feet as opposed to Pudgy's normal paws. His little tail stands up in the air and his mouth is beaming where he exhibits his cute tiny pink tongue. Pudgy simply needs to be placed next to his mistress on the black circular stand. This is such a stunning figurine and whilst I own rather a large collection, which as well as being my pride and joy, is also an investment. The majority of my figurines are safely displayed behind glass cabinets to protect them as well as minimise dust and whilst I have not yet had the need to clean this collectable, I will do so with a dry cloth for the porcelain sections and a slightly damp cloth for the fabric. My only grumble is the price, which is £99 plus £5 postage and handling, as Danbury Mint have significantly reduced the size of their figurines, which have not been in accordance with the price, as others I own measure approximately 16 inches where I paid around £20 more. You can choose to pay in full or spread the payments over four months. This figurine comes with my full recommendation, as it is simply adorable and despite the price I am still giving Bo-Peep Betty Boop five stars. I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
