For the past four and a half years I have been an avid collector of Betty Boop figurines, which are safely stored in a number of glass display cabinets in my dining room. I have reviewed quite a few of my figurines since becoming a member of Dooyoo and one of the pieces that I purchased during the early days of my collecting is named Betty Boop Classic Figurine and this review discusses my thoughts.
I would estimate that the 11½ inch hand painted resin figurine weighs around 800 grams with Betty's feet being firmly attached to a glossy black circular base, which enables the figurine to be safely and securely displayed. Betty is a very curvaceous and slim lady who absolutely adores displaying her beautiful body and in this figurine she proudly poses with her body leaning slightly forward with her petite rear end sticking out behind her. She wears her signature bright red glossy maxi dress, which has been perfectly painted onto the resin including tiny creases to create the illusion of real fabric.
In a large number of the Betty figurines that I own she can be seen wearing her yellow garter adored with red heart and in this figurine we are able to see it snugly fitting on the top of her left slender leg. Betty is a lady who adores beautiful high heeled shoes and in this figurine she wears a sexy pair of bright red stilettos. One of the points I absolutely adore about this lovable character is her huge head, which gives her a cute appearance, particularly as it is out of proportion with her body. Her facial features rarely differ from one figurine to the next where her black glossy curls are depicted by eight curvy spikes that run along the top of her head with a further eight curves around the edges of her face.
Her huge green eyes look upwards and are framed by her beautiful long black eyelashes and perfectly groomed eyebrows. Betty's shapely ruby red lips are full and very clearly display her cupid's bow whilst she holds them in a puckered pose. She is a lady that possesses a huge variety of jewellery and in this figurine we are able to witness her large golden coloured hoop earrings and matching bangles. Betty's long slender fingers have been created to perfection and are positioned on her tiny knees as she leans forward to strike the perfect classic pose. Cleaning the figurine is a relatively easy task, which I carry out with the aid of a lint free duster although I must admit this job is undertaken only twice a year, particularly as I own so many.
The figurine is manufactured by the owners of the Betty Boop trademark, namely The Hearst Holdings and to ensure its authenticity their familiar logo can be found on the underside of the base. In terms of workmanship I can find absolutely no faults. However, over the years the figurines have displayed much more attention to detail and create a more eye-catching overall appearance, particularly with their more vibrant colours. The figurine receives 5 stars from me, as it is absolutely stunning and at the time of writing, it can be purchased from Amazon for £41.99 inclusive of postage and packaging, which makes it more affordable than the majority of the newer figurines.
I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
