Well, folks, here I go with another Betty Boop review, as the urge was simply too much to resist despite the fact that my figurines are currently extremely squashed together in my glass display cabinets. I have an obsession for collecting these cute little figurines and perhaps I need counselling! This is a collectable that had been in my Amazon wish list for months on end and was eventually deleted after I made a recent purchase in a fantastic little collectable shop in Bristol. This figurine is part of the 2011 Career Girl collection and her name is Betty Boop Fire Fighter, so I'd like to tell you a little about her.
Betty stands at approximately 30 cm in height and is proudly dressed in an American fire fighter uniform. She weighs around a kilogram and is firmly fixed to a 9 cm in diameter black circular glossy base where on its' underside you have the assurance of your figurine's authenticity due to the manufacturer's official stamp. If you are not familiar with my reviews I would advise that The Hearst Holdings Inc is the owner of the Betty Boop trademark and their small logo can be always be located somewhere on Betty, which is generally on the figurine's underside.
What I love about this resin figurine is the colours, as it is extremely eye-catching with its' bright red and a touch of yellow. I'm not sure that Betty will be of much assistance whilst wearing such a skimpy uniform and in my opinion she's likely to raise the heat amongst some of her colleagues. She stands in a sexy pose with her left leg positioned slightly in front of her right where we are able to see her black working boots, which have a slight heel and show a patterned indentation down the sides. She proudly holds a grey fire hose, which has been painted in a shining silver at the point of exit for the water and she's clearly attempting to put out a fire although I have to say that the expression on her face informs me that she doesn't really have a clue of what she is supposed to be doing!
There is a shiny silver coloured fire hydrant located adjacent to her left foot and situated behind her is a coil of hose, which is connected to the hydrant. As for her outfit - well what can I say, as she wears the shortest mini dress that she could possibly wear, which is extremely inappropriate for when she needs to climb ladders and rescue people from the upper floors of burning buildings! The dress tightly hugs her curvaceous figure and fits neatly across her rather ample chest; half of which is spilling out! The dress is edged with a narrow yellow trim with matching stripes on the sleeves and wrist areas. Betty is a lady who adores beautifully jewellery, but she clearly is unaware or simply does not care about the inappropriateness of her sparkling gems. She displays a shiny golden hoop bangle on each of her tiny wrists and a pair of shiny circular earrings can be seen dangling each side of her head.
Betty's beautifully glossy black curls are normally depicted by eight points which run along the top of her head with a further eight running around the edge of her face. However, this figurine shows Betty wearing an American fire fighter helmet, which is clearly too small for her large head, as it perches on just two of her curls. The helmet has been exquisitely made with its' shiny golden badge displaying a No. 1 for all to see. There is nothing much to speak of regarding the reverse of the figurine and my general opinion of this is that it has once again, been perfectly constructed and I can find absolutely no flaws.
I often mention cleaning of my figurines within my reviews, as clearly this is an important task and due to the amount I own, it can become rather time-consuming. However, as this particular one is fairly new I have yet to carry out this task, which is made much easier by way of a small clean paintbrush, which will allow me to reach into any awkward areas. This is yet another figurine that comes to you with my full recommendation, as she is simply perfect for any Betty Boop fan or as a gift for someone who may be in the Fire Brigade.
Betty Boop Fire Fighter generally tends to retail at around £49.99, but I was fortunate enough to purchase her from a seller in Bristol who was offering 10% off his entire Betty Boop stock. However, she is widely available on the internet and is often listed on Amazon where some sellers will not charge postage and packing.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
