Betty Boop Horse Rider
Advantages: The colours and workmanship are fantastic
Disadvantages: None for me
As someone who is fanatical about collecting Betty Boop figurines I was delighted to receive an email a couple of months ago from an online seller from whom I purchase many of my figurines. I was informed that the Autumn 2011 collection was soon to be launched and was given an idea of what collectables to expect. Five of the new figurines were introduced at the beginning of last month and as I had been offered a generous discount off my next order I decided to purchase three with this review discussing Betty Boop Horse Rider.
The resin figurine stands at 30 cm in height and weighs approximately one kilogram, which seems to be the standard weight of the majority of the figurines that I own. As I am so passionate about my collection, which now stands at around 128, I find myself carefully studying each and every one when they arrive at my home.
The general appearance of this figurine most definitely surpasses all of the others that I own, as the manufacturer, namely The Hearst Holdings Inc, has used a vivid red colour for Betty's riding jacket, which gives the most stunning neon appearance. The image I provided to Dooyoo, as shown above, does not do justice to this figurine and the words I would use to describe it are simply spectacular.
The jacket has been perfectly designed with no attention to detail spared as its' appearance resembles that of a real horse rider's outfit. The jacket fits snugly around Betty's petite and very slender figure with tiny ripples in the resin creating the illusion of real fabric. The neckline of the jacket enables Betty's white top to be revealed together with the tiny scarf located on the front of her neck.
Her right arm is firmly positioned on the hop of her jodhpurs, which again have been created to resemble the real thing and located within her arm is her black riding hat. Her left arm is raised where she rests her whip behind the back of her head and her fingers are tightly clasped with a narrow gap to enable the whip to be removed. However, once correctly positioned, the whip will sit firmly.
Betty wears a pair of knee length black riding boots; the soles of which are firmly fixed to a glossy black circular stand to enable the figurine to be safely displayed. The underside of the collectable evidences the manufacturer's logo to ensure Betty's authenticity. Betty's gorgeous black glossy curls are illustrated with eight curvy spikes that run along the top of her head with a further eight running along the edges of her hairline. Betty's huge stunning green eyes look sideways and are framed with her long black eyelashes and perfectly groomed eyebrows. To complete her look she wears ruby red lipstick on her puckered lips.
I generally speak extremely highly of all of my Betty Boop figurines although sometimes have a little grumble regarding a few minor aspects. However, this latest edition to the Boop family far exceeds my expectations due to the stunning neon appearance of her jacket. As of yet, I have not needed to clean this figurine, but this will be a relatively easy task by way of a dry cloth as opposed to a yellow household duster, which disperses tiny fibres that attach themselves to any points on the figurine. Any hard to reach areas can be accessed with the use of a small clean paintbrush.
As this is a new figurine Betty has not yet appeared for sale on Amazon, but I would advise that she can be purchased from an online site named Collector's Friend and my experience of purchasing from them is simply first class. Betty Boop Horse Rider is priced at £50.00 and receives my full recommendation.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
