“ Brand: Four Seasons Liverpool / Type: Figurine - Collectible Dolls „
As you are no doubt aware, I'm an enthusiastic collector of Betty Boop figurines; one of which had been sitting in my Amazon wish list for quite some time and its' name is Betty Boop in the Rain. However, the price was considerably higher than what I was prepared to pay, so I waited, particularly as the prices on Amazon seem to constantly fluctuate. A few weeks ago my moment arrived where I was able to obtain the figurine at what I deemed as a bargain and this review discusses my adorable collectable. The figurine is available in two colours - one with a red fire hydrant and Betty wearing a blue coat as per the image I provided to Dooyoo as above and the other displays a black fire hydrant and Betty wearing a red coat, which is the one that I own.
The figurine has been manufactured entirely from resin and stands at 15 inches in height and weighs well over a kilogram. She is firmly fixed to a fairly large circular base with its' appearance resembling that of grey coloured paving stones, which is rather eye catching, particularly as the bases are generally of a glossy black colour. As Betty is an American icon she daintily rests her sexy body against a black fire hydrant, which has a very realistic appearance and is a common site on the streets of the United States of America.
Betty is a lady with an extremely curvaceous figure and generally likes to show rather a lot of flesh. However, this figurine shows her wearing what can be described as more sensible attire, as for once, she has retained her modesty, but saying that, her coat is a little on the short side. Her bright red coat fits perfectly around her neat figure where I am able to witness small creases in the resin fabric in areas such as her elbows, waist and bust. Her long sleeved coat has a low cut neck line and is framed with a wide white coloured collar and underneath we are able to witness the upper section of Betty's matching white top. The coat hugs Betty's slim figure and neatly fits into her tiny waist where I am able to witness a narrow white belt with a silver coloured square buckle. The manufacturer has even created tiny red coloured belt loops, pockets and large buttons down the front of her coat to create the finishing touch.
Whilst Betty is an American icon she is perfectly well dressed for the good old British weather as she firmly holds a huge cream coloured domed shaped umbrella. The design is simply perfect, as each of the individual sections of the brolly are clearly indicated by way of raised painted resin with a large scalloped edging on the lower section and a large peak on the upper section of the umbrella. The handle of the umbrella has been painted in a shiny silver colour and manufactured from a sturdy plastic with a large curve at the lower section, which is grasped by Betty's left hand where I am able to witness a shiny silver bangle. Her right hand rests slightly in front of the umbrella handle and displays a white coloured bangle. Betty is a lady who adores her high heeled shoes and in this figurine we are able to witness her wearing a pair of black high heeled wedges. To complete her outfit Betty wears a large pair of shiny silver hooped earrings.
Betty's black glossy curls are identical in each figurine that I own and are depicted by eight curvy spikes that run along the top of her head with a further eight curves that run around her hairline. Her facial features are always stunning where we are able to witness her huge green eyes looking sideways, her long black eye lashes and ruby red puckered lips. To ensure the figurine's authenticity the manufacturer, namely The Hearst Holdings Inc have included their name and signature image of Betty on the underside of the figurine. I cannot find any fault with this figurine and it therefore, receives my full recommendation.
I was fortunate to be able to purchase mine brand new from Amazon at £51.99 inclusive of P+P and was amazed to see a second hand one sold on Ebay only a fortnight ago for £72 + £9 P+P. However, at the time of writing (18 August 2011) the lowest price on Amazon is £59.99.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
