A stunning figurine for Betty Boop fans

I'm a huge fan of Betty Boop and since September 2007 I have amassed a collection of 136 beautiful figurines ranging from heights of 12 inches to 18 inches with one of my pieces being 36 inches. Due to lack of space and the fact that I probably own the majority of those available, my collection reached a halt at the end of last year and my only buys are rare finds, which I obtain from ebay. A figurine that I purchased last year is named Betty Boop Madam, which is available in 12 inches and 36 inches with mine being the smaller one due to the £300 price tag of the larger figurine.

The 12 inch hand painted resin figurine that I own weighs approximately a kilogram and is bright red in colour with beautiful eye-catching speckles of golden glitter. If you are familiar with the adorable character of Betty Boop you will be aware that she is a lady who loves nothing better than showing off her beautiful curvaceous body. Consequently, the majority of the figurines that I own display her long slender legs where the wears the most stunning and very high heeled shoes on her feet. However, Betty Boop Madam displays Betty wearing a sexy strapless ball gown, which is neatly fitted into her petite waist and is very tight down towards her feet. Generally, Betty is firmly fixed to a circular stand, but the base of Betty's dress is the base with this particular figurine.

I am always fascinated by the attention to detail in these figurines, which are created by the manufacturer and owner of the Betty Boop trademark, namely The Hearst Holdings Inc. Whilst Betty's Boop is created entirely from resin, there are creases throughout her entire dress that create the illusion of real fabric. Not only have creases been designed in the resin fabric, but they have placed them in the appropriate areas such as at the top of Betty's legs and around her knees, which gives a very realistic appearance. Betty always displays a rather large bust, which is fairly prominent in this figurine. Betty's tiny hands, which display perfectly formed fingers, rest on both sides of her hips.

It is very rare that the manufacturer will use any other materials in these figurines, but as Betty is a Madam she obviously needs to be wearing the appropriate attire and a beautiful pure white feather boa rests on her shoulders and falls neatly down to her sides. I adore the gorgeous hat that Betty wears with its huge wide brim and white band, which creates the perfect finishing touch to the image she is trying to portray. Betty is a lady who adores beautiful jewellery although in this figurine the only bling she is displaying is her heart shaped ruby red earrings that catch the light.

Betty's black glossy curls are normally depicted by eight curvy spikes that run along the top of her head, but as she is wearing a hat we are only able to witness two with a further eight curves running along her hairline. Betty possesses the most stunning pair of huge green eyes and in this figurine they are looking upwards and are beautifully framed with her long black eyelashes. She has a very petite nose and her ruby red lips are always puckered. To ensure the authenticity of the figurine, the manufacturer has placed their familiar Betty Boop image on the underside of Betty's dress.

I normally have an issue with the glitter figurines, particularly as the sparkle always seems to detach itself, but for some reason this is the only one that stays where it is intended. Cleaning my figurines is an easy task by way of a lint free cloth and a small paintbrush, which enables me to access any hard to reach areas although due to the amount I own this task is undertaken only twice a year. I can highly recommend Betty Boop Madam and at the time of writing she is available on Amazon where you can purchase a second hand red figurine for £40 with a brand new black one being available for £53.50 inclusive of P+P.

I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
