I am sure you do not need me to advise you of my passion for collecting Betty Boop figurines and whilst I vowed to cease with further purchases due to lack of space, a jiggle around of my living room furniture has enabled a further two glass cabinets to be purchased. At this present moment in time my collection stands at 108 figurines, which seems a little shameful, particularly when I tot up the cost, but I absolutely adore this cute little lady. One of my latest purchases was manufactured as a result of a little controversy, as the manufacturer namely The Hearst Holdings Inc had previously produced three figurines, namely Scottish, English and Irish, but omitted to include one for Wales. Consequently, an additional figurine was made and this review discusses Betty Boop Miss United Kingdom.
Betty is manufactured entirely from resin and stands at 30 cm in height whilst weighing in at just below a kilogram. She is firmly fixed to a black glossy circular base where on the underneath we are able to witness the familiar image of Betty, which authenticates this gorgeous collectable. If you are familiar with the character of Betty Boop you will be aware that she is a lady who loves displaying her naked flesh and this figurine is no exception. Betty has a slim and very toned figure and I will admit at this point in my review, that it was necessary for me to pose for the manufacturer to replicate the shape of my body!
Whilst my Betty Boop reviews normally discuss her beautiful clothes and matching shoes, obviously there is very little to discuss here, as Betty's extremely curvaceous figure proudly wears a skimpy red bikini. Her bikini pants are high cut and to place more focus on her perfectly slim and toned thighs there is a huge bow on both sides of her bikini pants to create the finishing touch. Betty has the perfect hourglass figure and normally her chest is rather ample and suggests that she has undergone breast enlargement. However, I would describe her as rather average in this figurine where she displays a fair amount of cleavage due to the design of her bikini bra with its' thin red straps that tie in a bow at the rear.
Accompanying the figurine were four silk sashes, namely Miss England, Miss Scotland, Miss Ireland and Miss Wales and as I was born and brought up in Wales I have naturally chosen the Welsh sash and have stored the remaining three in her box. Perched on the top of her black glossy curls is her pretty and very sparkly tiara, which displays a shiny diamante stone in its' centre. The tiara has been firmly glued to her head, but my grumble here is that the glitter tends to disperse everywhere and has not been firmly fixed. If you are familiar with my previous reviews you will be aware that Betty's curls are depicted by eight curvy points running along the top of her head with a further eight around the edges of her face.
To complete her look Betty wears a pair of golden coloured hoop earrings. Betty adores her make-up and her facial expressions rarely differ from one figurine to the next where we see her huge green eyes, long black eyelashes, tiny nose and ruby red puckered lips. Cleaning Betty is a fairly easy task other than her glittery tiara and this is carried out with a small clean paintbrush, particularly due to the tiny areas around Betty's fingers that are perfect for catching dust.
If you are interested in purchasing Betty Boop Miss United Kingdom I would advise that she is available from all good Betty Boop stockists and is often listed on both Ebay and Amazon where she will cost you £39.99. I would have rated this figurine with 5 stars, but I have removed one due to the glitter, which is very frustrating. However, she comes with my full recommendation.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
