During the late summer of last year I was delighted to receive an email from an online seller from whom I regularly purchase Betty Boop figurines. Accompanying the email was an attachment displaying a number of prototype images of forthcoming figurines, so I was delighted and felt rather privileged to be able to have a sneak preview of the new collection. As I am Betty Boop mad I instantly made a list of those that I wanted to purchase following their launch with this review discussing Betty Boop Sunny Day, which I was fortunate enough to receive as a Christmas present.
The height of the majority of the Betty Boop figurines is 30 cm, which is the measurement of this resin collectable where Betty is securely fixed to a black glossy circular stand. This was a most welcome addition to my collection, particularly as Betty is dressed in summer clothing, which makes me think of lighter evenings and warmer weather. If you are familiar with the character of Betty Boop you will be aware that she loves displaying her naked flesh and in this figurine she wears an extremely revealing pale blue mini skirt, which has been created in such a way to give the illusion of a skin tight fabric. However, this cute little lady can get away with wearing exactly as she wishes, as she possesses the most perfect and curvaceous body, so carry on and flaunt it Betty!
In addition to her love of displaying naked flesh Betty adores both the glamour and sophistication of high heeled shoes. However, she is more appropriately dressed in this figurine where she wears a pair of flat heeled flip flop style sandals in the identical colour as her skirt. Her long slender legs are positioned in a rather provocative pose with her arms behind her as she firmly holds her black and white handbag. Poking out of the handbag is what I believe to be the end of her red umbrella, which is located next to her bright yellow sunglasses. Betty wears a white coloured sleeveless tee shirt that leaves very little to the imagination, particularly as it is extremely tight fitting across her overly large chest!
Located around her tiny waist is a yellow coloured belt with a tiny black bubble, which has been perfectly hand painted onto the resin. In addition to her love of beautiful shoes, Betty adores her jewellery and in this figurine we see her wearing a string of bright yellow beads with matching hoop earrings. Betty is a perfectly groomed lady and clearly spends plenty of time at the hair salon as her black glossy curls are always immaculate and portrayed by eight curvy spikes running along the top of her head with a further eight curves situated around her hairline. Betty's facial features are almost identical from one figurine to the next where the displays huge green eyes, long black eyelashes, perfectly groomed eyebrows and ruby red puckered lips.
To ensure the authenticity of the figurine, the manufacturer, namely The Hearst Holdings Inc always display their familiar logo, which can be found on the underside of the base. To enable Betty to be firmly and secured displayed there are four small circular felt pads around the edges of the base. This is an easy to clean figurine by way of a small clean paintbrush and cloth, but due to the extent of my collection this is a task I undertake only twice a years. Betty Boop Sunny Day can be purchased from all good Betty Boop stockists and at the time of writing she can be obtained from Amazon for £50 inclusive of postage and packing. This gorgeous collectable comes with my full recommendation together with 5 stars.
