      Very helpful

      An adorable Betty Boop figurine

I'm an avid collector of Betty Boop figurines and simply cannot resist further purchases to add to my rather large collection, which is getting slightly out of hand due to lack of space. One of my latest purchases is named Betty Boop Valentine, which was released in 2008 by the owners of the Betty Boop trademark, namely The Hearst Holdings Inc.

This gorgeous resin figurine weighs slightly under a kilogram and measures 25 cm in length, 14 cm in height and 17 cm in width at the widest part. Whilst almost every Betty Boop collectable catches my eye, I find this one fairly unusual due to the fact that she is lying down, particularly as the majority of my figurines display Betty in a standing position. The beautiful ruby red heart shaped cushion is considerably eye-catching, as although the figurine is manufactured entirely from resin, the attention to detail is simply superb because it has been created to give the illusion of fabric. There is a seam around the edges of the heart together with small indentations and creases in the fabric to give the impression of a spongy soft cushion.

Betty is a very slender and curvaceous lady who is displayed in a sexy position with her knees slightly raised and her arms positioned behind her neck. She wears a tiny high cut black and silver glitter swimsuit with a strapless bodice section that barely covers her chest. I fear that if she moves her arms too quickly she will perform the famous stunt of Barbara Windsor in Carry on Camping where her bikini top flies off! Betty adores beautiful jewellery and shoes and this figurine doesn't fail to disappoint where we are able to witness her tiny red high heeled stilettos and her pretty red heart shaped shiny plastic earrings.

Whilst I would never wish to own a Betty Boop hairstyle, I adore her cute look with her black glossy curls that are normally illustrated by eight curvy spikes running along the top of her head. However, there are only seven spikes on this figurine due to Betty's left arm being positioned where the left one would be located. Her facial features always show her huge green eyes looking sideways, her long black eyelashes and puckered ruby red lips.

Cleaning the figurine is a relatively easy task by way of a small clean paintbrush that enables me to access any hard to reach areas. I have a grumble with this figurine, which is due to the glitter that seems to be a common problem with each of the glitter figurines that I own. Unfortunately, the manufacturer always uses a glitter that seems to have been thrown onto the wet paint as opposed to being mixed in. Consequently, each time Betty's swimsuit is touched, the glitter falls everywhere, so I try to keep handling her to a minimum.

The underside of the figurine, which displays the manufacturer's official logo, is totally flat to enable the gorgeous collectable to be easily displayed. Whilst my figurines are positioned on glass shelves you may choose to purchase a few of the small felt protectors to prevent marking surfaces. I haven't displayed this figurine elsewhere so cannot advise if it causes scratches on wood surfaces. However, I would doubt this to be the case, particularly as the underside is extremely smooth.

I purchased this figurine from Amazon some time ago for £44, which was inclusive of P+P. However, at the time of writing (6 October 2011) the only one listed is priced at £45.51 plus £3.98. This cute collectable receives 5 stars from me together with a huge recommendation.

I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
