“ Manufacturer: Danbury Mint / Type: Ornament - Porcelain „
As you're no doubt aware, I'm Betty Boop mad and am embarrassed to admit that I own approximately 60 of these gorgeous figurines. Don't worry though, I have no intention of reviewing each and every one of them as I'm sure my readers will tire of hearing about them, particularly if they're not a fanatic, like me! The figurine I'm reviewing today is Can Can Betty, which has been manufactured exclusively for Danbury Mint by Hearst Holdings Inc who own the Betty Boop trademark.
Well, where do I start with this gorgeous hand painted porcelain figurine, as there are simply so many features to review; all of which have the most perfect attention to detail? Here goes ... Betty stands at 18 inches high and the underside of her left foot has a long metal pin, which attaches safely and securely into a small hole within the 13 cm diameter black base. I was initially a little worried when I first received this figurine, as I suspected it would be a little rickety, particularly as the weight of it stands solely on Betty's one leg. However, I need not have been concerned as it is extremely sturdy. Her long slender right foot is poised in readiness for the can can dance.
She wears the most stunning cerise, pink, black and blue striped satin dress, which has been edged in a matching cerise hem, together with two beautifully white-laced frills. The bottom of the dress has been strengthened with wires to enable it to stand out and display the remainder of Betty's stunning attire.
Without sounding rude, there's quite a lot going on under her skirt, as there are masses and masses of white and cerise coloured net petticoats. I wasn't aware until I looked above the white laced garter adorned with a red heart, worn on Betty's left leg, that her body has been painted black to resemble that of a black bodice from her waist to the top of her boots. The top of each of her thighs displays a pretty black and white laced frill, which appears rather ooh la la!
Betty wears a pair of extremely sexy high-heeled black granny boots with real laces tied in a bow at the top. Her bodice is identical to that of the beautiful skirt of her dress and fits extremely tightly over her rather ample chest and is frilled with white lace, which continues around to the top of her long black sexy gloves. Both the top of the dress and gloves are edged in pretty black embroidery.
As with all of the Betty Boop figurines, she wears several items of jewellery, namely a bangle style bracelet with pink, blue and silver crystals and a matching pair of dangly earrings. Betty wears a pretty black choker type necklace with a gorgeous pink and blue-laced corsage. To complete the outfit, she wears a stunning headdress of white, blue and cerise feathers, which are attached to a lace base covered in blue and pink flowers.
Betty Boop always looks stunning with her gorgeous huge green eyes and long black eyelashes. Her lips are puckered and are a beautiful ruby red.
I have never actually sat down and studied this figurine until reviewing it today and am somewhat surprised at all the tiny details. This is truly a collector's piece for the Betty Boop fan, such as myself and was despatched to me by courier.
Betty can be purchased from Danbury Mint's UK website or by contacting their customer services. She will cost you £111.00 plus £4 postage and packing and can be paid in full or by four monthly interest-free instalments of £27.75 plus £1 postage and packing. As she is a collector's piece, you will receive an accompanying certificate, which provides you with details of your figurine, together with cleaning instructions.
As I am such a mad Betty Boop collector and this figurine displays such perfect attention to detail, it receives a full 5 out of 5 dooyoo stars from me.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
