Advantages: Durable, bright
Disadvantages: Small made
For my daughters first birthday as she was just on her feet we decided to buy her a pushchair as she was always putting her dollies in her own so we knew she would love it. With her being so young we were looking for something that was well made but not too expensive and as we have had good experiences with Chad valley before we decided on this one.
The pushchair comes n a medium size box and does need some assembly but not a lot. The main frame is already built but you do need to add the wheels and pram seat which is easy to do and only takes 5 minutes at the most.
As the frame is made of metal it is really sturdy which means it can take knocks and bangs and still work perfect which when you have an 18 month old child using it is essential as although my daughter was an early walker she is still really clumsy on her feet like mummy.
The ,material of the pram although a little thin is actually really well made I was a little worried as the picture in the Argos magazine makes it look a little dated but it is much nicer in person than in the catalogue. It has butterflies all over it which my daughter loves and the pink and yellow colours are her favourite bright fun and attractive.
The wheels are a nice size and although they are rather soft this is great as in our old house we had wooden flooring which meant there was no scratches and no irritating noise from them no matter how much she runs around with it. The wheels are durable at the same time they have been used indoors and out and only have a few scuffs on them nothing that affects the use of the pram just cosmetically.
The pram is very minimal there are no extras like a basket underneath and the material is very thin but this makes it extremely lightweights and ideal for toddlers just what you need for a first pram. It can be easily pushed around by small children and yet is very durable at the same time.
There is a foam bar on the handles to provide extra grip for little one which is great especially for young children just on their feet as it provides a little extra support for them while pushing the pram.
We have found most dolly's fit ok in this pram apart from some of her bigger ones they can be sat up in there but they do nearly fall out so she prefers to stick to her smaller ones like her fisher price first doll as these fit nicely in it.
This pram can also be folded down by simply lifting off the 2 catches at the side my daughter was not able to do this so I had no worry of her closing it on her fingers but my son who is a little older figured out what to do and on a few occasions managed to fold it down. Although there is nothing immediately sticking out that can hurt little ones fingers obviously it is still a bit of a worry as with any folding mechanism there is a chance little one can hurt themselves.
When folded the pram is not exactly huge but still takes up a little storage space but it is nice to have the option for the rare occasion my little girl was not playing with it.
The material that makes up the seat of the pushchair is wipe clean only which can become mucky after a year of use by a toddlers finger marks all over it we find it tough to remove them but a little soap water and elbow grease and it comes up acceptable.
The downside to this pram is the size really although it is suggested from 3 years of age my daughter has had this since she was one and it was the perfect size for her at around 18 months old. Now she is 3 she has received a new push chair as unfortunately although this pram is still in excellent condition she has just grown too tall for it.
Over all I would definitely recommend this pram especially as a child's first one. It is lightweight but very durable and although it is small for the recommend age range I would say this would be perfect for 2 -3 year old children. It is bright colourful and fun for any little girl and I am sure ours will come back out of storage for expected baby when she is old enough. It retails at around £15 although is on offer a lot so best to shop around.
Summary: A fantastic first pram
