Advantages: Great first pram, great height, sturdy

Disadvantages: Nothing major given the price

My daughter started showing some interest in dolls around her first birthday and would carry around some of her older female cousin's dolls when at her grandparents house where they are kept. It was after seeing this that I thought my daughter would like a pram from 'Santa' but I didn't want one that was too fancy, as she doesn't have the imagination yet to do that much with it, but secondly, I knew as she got older, if she continued to show interest in dolls, she would want a fancy pram and that would be the time to get it for her. Back in the Autumn Argos were doing a 3 for 2 toy event and I decided to get my daughter some of her Santa presents early and avail of the deal. It was in Argos that I saw this Chad Valley My First Dolls Pram, which retails at £16.99, which I think is a fair price for the size and quality of the item.

This pram has been designed for children from 3 years plus, which I think is ridiculous. My daughter was 16 months old at Christmas and this was firstly, the perfect height for her to push around, and secondly, there is nothing that I can see that is of danger to a younger child. My daughter already had a little buggy for her couple of dolls, but it was a bit flimsy, and this is certainly much sturdier for her. SHe would really have to be putting down her full weight to tip it, and this has yet to happen, and I wouldn't say she is always gentle on it!

The frame of this pram is a tubular steel style, and it was my husband who set it up for my daughter on Christmas morning, very quickly and without any hassle. It really was only a matter of setting up the frame and adding the wheels. The pram has material on the inside of the bed part, and on the hood, which can be pulled up or placed down and is easy enough for small hands to move. The material is pink with a yellow and pink flower design and I wouldn't say it is the most luxurious of style or material, but then again, given the price, it is hardly to be expected and also given how rough a young child can be with their toys at times, it wouldn't make sense for a first pram to have the best material - better kept for when they are older and wiser!

This pram does not come with a doll, but is suitable for dolls up to 40cm. My daughter had a couple of small dolls, which although perfect for her little buggy, I thought might look unsuitable in this bigger pram, so I actually purchased the Chad Valley first doll which goes perfectly in this pram.

As I said, this is a perfect size for my little girl and when her daddy had it set up on CHristmas morning, she pushed it around the house with a big smile on her face and we knew we had picked a good toy! I like the fact that the handle has an added gripped texture, meaning she can hold on to it better as she pushes.

My daughter is only really getting into dolls now, giving her dolly a bottle of milk, and taking her for a walk etc but this pram has proved to be a great hit, and I think it is a brilliant pram for the price and as a first pram. I'm sure she will want something fancier when she is bigger but by that stage she will have more imagination to play with her dolls and therefore worth spending more money at that time. At this young stage this is ideal.

Summary: A great first pram for a little girl
