      a fun doll

My middle daughter realy likes the little mermaid film so when we saw this doll I new she would love it, i paid £3 for ours from discount bargains and picked up the mermaid carriage wholst I was there too to go with it.

The doll is made the same as a barbie doll in the material they have used for the body, it is a durable rubber material that will last very well even with lots of play. The doll is slightly smaller in size than a barbie doll but not too small that the barbie clothes we have won't fit the doll which is good as ariel only comes in her mermaid out fit which consists of a plastic bra top and a material tail and there are no clothing sets sold for her.

My daughter has had lots of fun playing with ariel as an addition to her other barbie dolls and using the accessories with her aswell as using her to play with in the bath, she drys out easily as she doesn't fill with water like other dolls we have used in the bath. The tail material hasn't suffered at all even though it has been in and out of water and dryed on the radiator after.

These dolls retail at around £10 which I would have been more than happy to have paid for this.

Character Options Disney Princess Doll - Ariel

Our little one has recently got into playing with little Barbie dolls and as she had just watched The Little Mermaid at her nans house, we thought we would treat her to an early birthday present and bought her this little Ariel Doll which we picked up online for £5. I have seen them for double this price elsewhere so we picked up a nice little bargain though I would certainly say that it is not worth more than £5. I am not sure if this doll is in shops anymore as I haven't seen this particular one in any, though it can be found on numerous online sites.

The doll itself is of good quality. There are a few other Ariel dolls I believe, though this one comes with a little bikini top and a tail which fits over her legs to change her into a mermaid. Unfortunately, when you take the tail and bikini off to make Ariel human, they forgot to give her clothes! The bikini and tail are also very loose fitting so tend to fall off if not careful.

Although the doll is durable, the clothes are not and the lack of clothes for human Ariel is silly. Luckily our little one has some Barbie clothes to put on her (which fit loosely) to hide her modesty! Due to this fact, I probably would not recommend this unless you can pick it up cheap.

          -

My little girl took quite a liking to the Disney Princess dolls in the last year and she asked if she could have one when we were in Asda one day. I was expecting the dolls to be more than over priced but I was pleasantly surprised to see that they only cost £3.99 each which I thought was an absolutely bargain. After much deliberation from my daughter she decided she wanted Ariel from the Little Mermaid.

The doll came in a purple Disney box with the Little Mermaid written on it and Ariel as well as a picture of Ariel in her cartoon form. The doll is also visable through a plastic window.

It took an absolute age to get Ariel out of the box as she was attached with little bits of string, plastic clips. Everything that would make it impossible to get the doll out of the box basically!

Once we had got Ariel out of the box I was surprised to see that it was just the doll and there were no accessories but then seeing how cheap it was you cannot really grumble.

Ariel measures at 12 inches long and has beautiful glossy red hair just like she does in the film. She is wearing a plastic purple bikini top. She has a green mermaid tail which has a slight metallic effect. Ariel's mermaid tail can be removed by undoing the little piece of velcro to reveal human legs but she has no underwear :0 I think it is possible to buy dresses for Ariel on eBay like the one she wears in the films so your child would be able to turn her into a human like in the film. My daughter prefers her as a mermaid and she wants to keep her like that.

Ariel is fully posable and is an exact replica of Ariel from the films.

A good quality item from Disney which my daughter loves and plays with a lot. Highly recommended especially at such a bargain price.

FOR £4 YOU CAN'T GO WRONG.

I bought this Disney princess Ariel doll for my niece after seeing it on offer for under £4 in Tesco. My niece is 5 and is currently going through the phase where she is in love with anything thats pink or Disney. Having been through this phase with my own daughter, I knew immediatley, that this doll would be a hit.

Disney Princess Ariel is from the Disney film little mermaid. What captured my attention when looking at this doll, was the mane of beautiful, vibrant red hair. It really is a very pretty doll. I felt impressed by the attention that had been taken to the dolls features, which made her appear friendly and engaging.

Another thing that I found to be highly original regarding this doll, is the choice of outfit. Instead of the usual array of frills and lace that most Princess dolls wear. This Ariel doll is representing a mermaid and therefore she has a pretty shell like bikini top on and a shiny green fish tail that looks very effective.

My niece totally loves this doll, she has been kept occupied by playing imaginary princess play with this doll as a prop. She particularly enjoys taking this doll into the bath with her. She then pretends that Ariel is diving under the water. The doll is very robust and has limbs which move freely. Because the doll is made from plastic, there is no problem with her being put into the water. The only drawback, is the hair. It is so long and thick, that it takes an age to dry.

One thing that I felt rather disappointed about regarding this doll, was the lack of any accesories. Particularly due to the fact that the emphasis on this doll seems to revolve around her hair. I would have been much happier with this product if it had a shell comb. I think this would have made the toy alot more special.

What I noticed when watching my niece play with this doll, is that she became rather bored with her outfit. The green fish tail is quite restrictive to the dolls legs and so my niece became irritated with having to lift up the skirt to pretend that the doll was walking. Maybe a change of outfit would have also made this doll somewhat more intresting and appealing.

In reflection, I am pleased with my purchase. It was a very well made doll and this I found encouraging as I had only paid £4 for it. I think this doll would make a perfect gift for a child to give to her friend for her Birthday. It looks far more expensive than the retail price I paid.

My niece enjoys playing with this Ariel doll. However, I know that she sometimes becomes bored due to the lack of accesories. I really do think that one or two hair slides and a shell comb would have made the world of difference to the enjoyablity factor of this doll.

          Bargain price Disney Princess doll

I'm always having to by Birthday presents for my little girls friends, so I've recently taken to buying these Disney Princess dolls. I bought the Ariel doll for £3.99 in Tesco, which I thought was a good price.

Ariel comes packaged in a plastic and carboard box. The bottom of the box has pictures of Disney Princesses all around it. The back of the box shows all of the Princess dolls in the collection.

Ariel is attached to the box in the usual fashion - with those annoying little plastic clips which have to be cut off. But once thoses are undone she's ready to be played with.

Areil is 12 inches tall, has beautiful long sunset red hair and huge blue eyes. She's vey pretty.
Her arms and legs are posable.
Areil is wearing a plastic purple coloured bikni top and a green fish tail, complete with fins at the bottom. The fish tail can be removed - there is a small velcro tab at the back to unfasten it. However, Ariel is not wearing much underneath - no kickers or anything! She has normal human legs underneath, so little girls will be able to play at transforming her from mermaid to human.

Areil would have benefited from a crown and a couple of accessories, but for the price I can't really complain.

For £3.99 I think this doll is a great little bargain. It's sturdy enough to take plenty of handling without falling apart and any little Princess fans are sure to love it.

A good value toy which is sure to be well loved by any child

          * Product *

This Disney Doll is a fabulous toy for any little girl (or boy!) and can create hours of fun. This doll promotes imaginative, creative and interactive play for children. I had one of these as a chil and recently bought one for my neice who absolutely adores it. This doll is very good value for money considering the hours of fun that it can create.

Ariel comes in a clear fronted cuboid box which clearly shows the doll to the buyer. The doll itself has long red hair which feels real to the touch and allows children the opportunity to play with Ariel's hair through being able to comb it and style it. The doll also comes wearing a glittery purple bikini top and has a green glittery mermaid tail which is made of material and is removeable, so she can be dressed up in different clothing items if desired.

Description: Brand: Character Options / Type: Doll / The beautiful Ariel Doll look so glamorous with her elegant evening dresses and long soft hair that you can style.

I must admit that buying this doll for my gorgeous niece (aged 2 in case you are interested!) brought on some feelings of nostalgia. This is because I remember my sister (her mum!) loving the Little Mermaid when she was a child. It is great that 20 years later, the characters from the Disney film seem to be just as popular.

Just in case anyone is unsure who Ariel actually is, she is of course the lead character also known as the Little Mermaid. This doll will cost you between £5 and £7 depending on where you buy it. The doll is made from hard plastic with long silky hair that little girls can style themselves.

The doll comes in a shell bikini and with a long satin like mermaids tail that conceals her legs underneath. This is great because it means that the doll can be dressed in other clothes if the child chooses. Personally speaking, I remember spending hours dressing and redressing my dolls as a child and my niece seems to be exactly the same. There is also a Disney Princess version of Ariel where she wears a princess gown so if you know of someone who loves the Little Mermaid, this is definitely one to look out for.

Now of course, as with any toy, the proof of its success is how often it gets played with. I can confirm that this doll was a fiver well spent! Despite being played with for around 6 months, the hair is still silky and smooth and my niece doesn't seem to tire of the doll. In fact, she really does seem to love it as much as she did when we bought it. Someone recently made her a little Ariel costume and she spent about 4 days insisting that she wear it, so that she could look like Ariel, while carrying her around, so cute!

If you know of a child who is a fan of the Little Mermaid (and let's face it, who doesn't!) then you should definitely treat them to an Ariel doll. They are excellent value for money and provide hours of fun, well worth buying.

Play With Ariel As A Human Or A Mermaid!

I brought this Ariel doll for my sister when they was on sale in Asda, at the time I paid £3.50 because there was a third off or some mad offer like that but I think the usual price is £5.00. I actually ended up buying 3 of them because I knew my little cousin would love it and I also got one for my mates daughter who is OBSESSED with Disney Princesses.

There are loads of different Ariel dolls but this is the very basic version, it's just a doll and doesn't do anything like swimming or singing but for that price what can you expect???

The doll looks lovely and has been made to look just like Ariel from The Little Mermaid film. She's got mega long red hair and is wearing a bikini top made of shells, she can either be played with as a mermaid or a human because the doll has got legs it's just that when you buy it you might not realise that because she has got a green sleeve that goes over her legs to make it look like she has got a mermaids tail.

The tail is easy to slide on and off her legs so it's dead quick to transform Ariel from mermaid to human, the only problem is that the tail part might end up getting lost because my sister just dumps it in her toybox but even if that happens this is still a proper nice doll for her to play with.

I was quite impressed with the hair on Ariel and still am because my sister has been playing with this for months now and the hair still looks in brill condition. My other sister collects Bratz dolls and the hair on them looks disgustingly tatty after they've been brushed and played with for a few weeks...... and they're LOADS more expensive than this was.

A weird thing though is that once you take the tail off Ariel she doesn't come with any clothes to put on so you've got a human doll that is wearing a bikini top and nothing else! lol The bikini top has lasted good too and that was a surprise because the fastener is dead flimsy and it looks like it will break as soon as you touch it but it's still going strong even though my sister has dragged the bikini top off loads of times...... she's got a weird obsession with dolls boobs!

I deffo recommend this Ariel Princess doll, for a fiver you've got a wicked doll that not only looks like the character it's supposed to be but also is more exciting for little kids because of being able to transform her from a mermaid to a human.

              Lovely doll!

I picked this doll up in Asda for less than £5 as a treat for my little
girl - and it is such a lovely figure.

Her legs are encased in a lovely fabric green tail, she has a plastic purple seashell bra (that does stay in play even after hours and hours of play) and she has lovely long red hair that has stayed tangle free - even after weeks of play and very rough hair brushing it doesn't look tatty.

There are more expensive versions of this doll, but I really don't think
you need to pay the extra £6 it costs to sprinkle a bit of glitter on Ariels tail. And you can also buy it in a set of princess dolls too but that works out a lot more expensive than a one off kids treat.

Since I got this in Asda ive noticed that a lot of the other supermarkets
are stocking the princess dolls too - Tesco stock it for around £7.

If you do want to splash out on a more expensive version - the Disney store one its beautiful, and while it costs £12 it does include a mini flounder figure, a Sebastian figure and a hairbrush - so at least you get a little bit more for your money.

But in my opinion - this version is a bargain, and a perfect pocket money
priced treat for any little girl.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

This is a very good value doll, however they now come with all sorts of extras

These dolls are very good quality, Ariel is a beautiful doll, with glossy long red hair which can be brushed and styled.

Although there are many different versions of the Disney princess Ariel dolls on the marketplace, this is the basic doll, she comes with a purple sea shell bikini top and a fin, which fits like a skirt over her legs to become a mermaid, this is removable so Ariel can be a human, however the poor girl has no other clothes!

The only problem my daughter had with this doll is that the catch on the back of Ariel's shell bikini top is just a little rubber band , therefore after many times of being put on and taken off (as little girls do) To my daughters amusement, the shell bikini top/bra kept falling off. Ariel now has a sellotaped bra to keep her dignity!

The doll is what you can expect with any Barbie type doll; it is plastic with stiff arms and body but has bendable knees.

I'm not sure how much I paid for this doll, as it was from Woolworth's a few years ago, but I do remember it was very cheap, as I bought the whole collection!

Play.com are selling a similar Ariel doll for £11.99 which comes with a brush and comb, and this one also comes with a skirt for human mode!

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

A lovely doll and a firm favourite with my daughter.

My little girl is not even 2 ½ yet but already she loves playing with dolls, both the baby doll variety and the Barbie doll variety, she's a huge Disney princess fan so when we decided to buy her very first Barbie style doll we showed her a few examples from the Disney Princess range. Usually she would choose Sleeping Beauty because she wears pink or Belle from Beauty & The Beast as Bell is her nickname so we were surprised when she chose Ariel but she was insistent and there's simply no arguing with her once she's made up her mind.

Disney Princess Ariel is from the basic range of Disney Princess dolls by Character, there are many Ariel dolls available with fancy clothes, that can talk, who's tails change colour in water etc etc.... but being my daughters very first doll of this kind we wanted to start out basic. Ariel can be used in 2 modes, she comes with a fabric tail which slides up over her legs and fastens with a small Velcro strip to form her mermaid tail fin or you can use her in human mode with legs which can bend at the knees. Her face is beautifully moulded and though she doesn't totally replicate the face of the movie character she is still a very pretty doll with bright features, her bright red hair is neatly styled into a ponytail which can be taken out and brushed or styled as the child desires. Ariel doesn't come with many clothes other than her tail and a plastic purple sea shell bikini top which is held in place by a clear rubber band, if the bikini is taken off it's quite tricky to get back in place properly so it's better to leave it on even if you do purchase additional outfits for her.

Elsa adores her Ariel doll and takes her everywhere with her, Ariel even gets taken up to bed where I have to tuck her (the doll) into bed and wish her goodnight! Despite only being 2 Elsa has a good grasp on how to play with this style of dolly and will happily walk her around and make her talk to other dolls and toys, she'll also brush her hair and dress her, it's adorable watching her and seeing how vivid her imagination already is, although I do feel slightly sorry for the doll when she gets carried around, upside down, by her fins. Strangely the only place Elsa hasn't insisted on taking Ariel is the bath, considering she's a mermaid you'd imagine that would be the first place she'd head but luckily for Ariel Elsa has a wide range of bath toys to keep her distracted, while the doll would be fine in the water her mermaids tail wouldn't really be suitable as it's fabric and would need washing and drying thoroughly before being put back on, it would also take her hair a while to dry out and the chances are her head would fill up with water and leave marks as it dried, this was the sad fate of my own dollies as a child.

As I mentioned before Ariel only comes wearing a tail and bikini top, she is however made to the same size as Barbie dolls and other similar dolls so it's easy to pick up other outfits and accessories for her, I'm sure that specific Disney Princess outfits are available to dress the dolls in but there were none when we purchased Ariel and that was one of the reasons we tried to convince Elsa to choose a different Princess.

Again, like other brand dolls, Ariel is made of plastic, her body and arms are made of solid plastic, the arms can be moved and rotated but are not pose able like her legs, her head and face are made up of a softer plastic, like that which coats her legs. Ariel's arms are permanently fixed in a ball joint type fixing, her legs however are fixed in a simpler plug & hole type fixing which allows her legs to come off completely, this proved a handy design feature on Elsa's very first day with the doll as she managed to detach one of the legs, any other fixing would have left Ariel ruined but instead we were able to fix the leg back on and she was as good as new. Ariel's hair is securely threaded into her head meaning it wont fall out easily with the first sign of a hair brush or ribbon, it can get tangled quite easily though, especially with the not so gentle handling of a 2 year old, but we've found with a little brushing her hair can quickly return to it's smooth shiny self.

As a starter doll Disney Princess Ariel is almost perfect, the doll itself is lovely and Elsa adores her, my one complaint is the lack of clothes for Ariel's human form, I know we only paid £4.99 for the doll in Woolworths, which for a Disney toy is very reasonable but it would have been nice to have had an extra dress provided, even if it were only the peasant style dress Ariel wears when she first turns into a human in the movie. There are lots of other Little Mermaid dolls available but this easily has to be the most affordable and coming in her own box she makes a great gift or stocking filler.
