Jungle in my Pocket is a series of delightful little play sets for children probably upwards of the age of five. There are many different sets but I am going to be talking about the Elephant Hut set which my daughter received for her sixth birthday and she has really enjoyed playing with it ever since.
It is one of those toys that arrives nicely packaged up in a plastic moulding with a cardboard back so you can see exactly what you are getting. The problem is that as soon as you open it up you need to find some small container to keep everything in especially as the pieces are mainly very small. The pieces can be assembled together in two different ways - either to show the outside of the elephant hut or alternatively to present a rather luxurious interior. It's all very clever really.
There are two main grey pieces which each have a corner and form the main walls of the hut. These clip together quite easily and certainly don't present any problems for my six year old. This has some muddy stone detail on the walls and the most interesting feature is the roof which turns into a waterfall. The roof also clips on with a hinge that means that it will open up when needed. There are also some seats outside and a rather snazzy pink umbrella to keep the elephants cool.
However, as I said earlier this is only one aspect of the hut, and I think my daughter definitely prefers it when she opens it all up! The walls open up to reveal a spacious living room complete with pink sofa and open log fire. The roof flips over to become a bedroom with a bed that is already attached. There are lots of lovely details within the living room and my daughter was really quite enthralled when she first saw it.
All the bits are made of plastic and your child does need to be a bit careful with them all as there are one or two little bits on the hinges that could be in danger of snapping off. We have a small ledge that is supposed to be attached to the side but no longer does because one small bit has broken so do be careful!
The set also comes with four elephants - a mother and three babies. My daughter loves playing with these and I often hear her using her imagination and making up all sorts of games with them. The set really does seem to hold her interest for quite a long time. I'm sure it won't be long before she will want to add to the collection with some of the other sets. You can find out about these at
as there is a whole website dedicated to these play sets.
The elephant hut set is currently available on Amazon for £11.99 which does seem expensive to me. However, it is a lot of fun so it might be worthwhile looking out for any special offers.
The Elephant Hut comes with exclusive Elephant Mum and Babies family! Help Elephant Mum Eleanor and her three elephant babies Augie, Eli and Alina settle into their plush new hut home! Lift the roof of this cool Elephant Hut to reveal a cosy bedroom with an elephant sized bed, and space to chill out under the umbrella when it gets hot!
