“ Manufacturer: Danbury Mint / Type: Doll „
I am slowly attempting to assess a number of the figurines from my precious Betty Boop collection and today I am reviewing Betty Boop Black Tie Affair from Danbury Mint.
Whilst there are eight pieces within this gorgeous collection, it is not necessary that you buy every piece, as each figurine is unique in itself. If you are interested, the other figurines within the collection are Final Touches, It's Definitely Me, The Perfect Fit, Snow Bunny, Palm Beach, Talk of The Town and Dazzling Diva.
As I do not wish to be repeating myself in my reviews, I would advise that I have previously discussed Danbury Mint and have provided details of who they are. If you would like further information, I would respectfully request that you look at one of my previous Betty Boop reviews.
I would advise that The Hearst Corporation own the Betty Boop trademark and all genuine figurines will have their official stamp on its' underside.
Betty Boop Black Tie Affair is a porcelain hand painted figurine and stands at 23 cm high on an 8 cm diameter circular base. She wears a stunning black ball gown, which has a long slit revealing her right leg, where she proudly displays her gold and red garter. The inside of the ball gown is cerise and we can see her left leg located at the rear of her dress. She wears pretty cerise stiletto heel shoes with double straps and a red and gold diamante decoration is located on the toe area.
The lower part of the dress has been designed to create a full effect and the intricate detail is simply superb, as there appears to be folds in the porcelain "fabric". The dress is adorned with beautiful flowers and butterflies in colours such as cerise, orange, green and yellow.
The rear of the dress stretches out into a gorgeous fantail, giving the dress a spectacular appearance. The dress is a halter neck style and the upper section fits tightly into Betty's tiny waist and is completed with a wide waistband displaying hundreds of tiny cerise and gold coloured dots.
Betty wears long cerise evening gloves to co-ordinate with her dress and her left hand sits neatly on her left hip where she proudly displays a sparkling shiny stone on her engagement finger. Her right hand carefully clutches her cerise and gold handbag.
As this is a black tie affair, Betty has completed her look with a pair of pretty red and gold dangling earrings and she's now ready to dine with the stars.
You can order Betty Boop Black Tie Affair from either the Danbury Mint UK website or by telephoning their customer services. The figurine will cost you £56 plus £3 postage and handling. You can choose to spread the cost over two interest-free monthly payments of £28 plus £1.50 postage and handling. Danbury Mint accepts cheque, credit and debit card payments.
Danbury Mint despatch their larger figurines by courier to ensure safe delivery, but as this figurine is fairly small and lightweight, you will receive it via Royal Mail. The boxes are always extremely well packed and I have never had any damage caused to any of my precious collectables.
If you are interested in purchasing this figurine, I would suggest you look on ebay as I frequently see them for sale at around half the price, but would urge you to firstly check with the seller if they will provide you with the certificate that accompanies every Danbury Mint Betty Boop figurine.
Whilst it is not essential that you obtain the certificate, it will help retain the value of your figurine should you decide to sell it in the future.
As with all of Danbury Mint figurines, no attention to detail has been spared and as a result, Betty Boop Black Tie Affair receives 5 out of 5 dooyoo stars from me.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
