“ Manufacturer: Danbury Mint / Type: Doll „
I'm sure that by now you're aware that I'm Betty Boop mad and have a large number of figurines within my rapidly growing collection. The piece I am reviewing today is Bewitching Betty, which has been exclusively manufactured for Danbury Mint by The Hearst Holdings Inc.
This is one of my favourite collectables, particularly as there is so much attention to detail and the workmanship is simply superb.
The hand painted figurine stands at 16½ inch high and is manufactured entirely from porcelain, with a few finishing touches for Betty's beautifully bewitching fabric clothes. On the underside of Betty's right foot is a long metal pin, which securely fits into the stunning blue wave on which she stands. The craftsmanship of the sea is simply superb, as the porcelain swirls to depict real waves and tiny white stars have been scattered throughout, together with blue, red and green glitter.
Betty sits on her broomstick, where the porcelain has been carved to resemble that of wood and you can even see tiny lifelike markings. A gorgeous tight fitting bodice has been painted on Betty's upper half, together with vertical stripes and the neckline has been completed with pretty black lace.
The skirt is a black silky shiny material, which has been cut into magical looking points and clearly displays Betty's trademark - her sexy garter, which she wears on her right thigh and underneath her extremely revealing skirt are her black bikini briefs.
Betty wears a stunning purple bat cape to match the colour of her bodice and it flows below her tiny waist. Attached to the cape are black sparkling net sleeves with tiny sequins, which are ruffled around the top of her arms. On both wrists, Betty wears two shiny gold bangles adorned with pretty black stones.
Betty proudly displays a stunning black pearl necklace, which has an emblem of a bat in the front and to complete her jewellery, she wears a pretty pair of gold hooped earrings. On Betty's head is a gorgeous bright orange pointy hat, which was packaged separately. It is held in place with a narrow piece of transparent elastic, which wraps around the rear of her head.
The stunning hat displays cute images of stars and moons and of course, as it's Halloween, there's a black cat, which looks rather annoyed as its' back is hunched with his tail stood up in the air! To enable Betty's hat to match with both her bodice and cape, a wide band of purple fabric has been attached to the lower section.
Betty very rarely goes anywhere without her faithful friend, her dog, Pudgy and this figurine shows him holding tightly onto the broomstick next to Betty's right leg. He wears a cute little patch over his left eye and an orange and black handkerchief, which has been knotted on the one side. It is only now that I am studying the figurine for the purpose of this review that I realise that Pudsy is wearing a gold hoop from his pierced right ear and an anchor motif on the top of his right leg.
This figurine is absolute perfection and is extremely colourful as it displays Betty in her full glory and proudly sits in my cabinet with all of my other collectables.
As this collectable is extremely heavy, it was delivered to me by courier and was beautifully and carefully packed to avoid any risk of damage in transit.
Bewitching Betty will cost you £116 plus £4 postage and packing and can be purchased in full or in four interest-free monthly instalments of £29 each plus £1 postage and packing.
As this is such a stunning figurine, it receives 5 out of 5 dooyoo stars from me.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
