I was perusing one of my local charity shops a few months ago when I spotted this Snow White my first princess doll still in its packaging for just £1.99, as my daughter was going through a Disney princess phase I decided to buy it for her.
Snow White is 29cm tall and so a lovely size for toddlers, she is soft except for her head which is plastic. She is wearing the trademark Snow White dress, the top of the dress is a shimmery blue with a white collar, the peplum is light blue with red spots and the skirt is gold with sparkly netting. Underneath the skirt part is a white net underskirt, which works really well at puffing the dress out giving it a real princess look and feel. Snow White did come with a pair of red material shoes, but my daughter has lost these. My daughter particularly likes the fact that the dress can be removed, she can do this herself but has trouble getting it back on again so often asks me for help doing this.
The doll has big brown eyes and red lips, she is smiling and looks very happy and friendly. She originally came with a red material hair band, but again my daughter lost this. Her hair is of a decent thickness and length so it can be brushed and styled with my daughters various clips and bobbles.
My daughter likes to snuggle up with this doll in bed, it has a nice soft body so it is perfect for cuddling. However, she rarely actually plays with this doll now, I think she may find it a little boring compared to some of her other toys as its uses are fairly limited.
A quick look on Amazon shows me that this doll currently costs £17.99, so I think I got a pretty good bargain. The doll is suitable for children aged 1+, I would certainly recommend this Snow White doll for small children who love Disney Princesses.
For my little girls first birthday we were struggling to find toys for her. While browsing Argos we came across the soft bodied 'My first princess dolls' and decided they would be perfect for her. We ordered online so had no idea which doll we would get, but there are three to choose from if you buy in store, Snow white, Cinderella and Belle. Once delivered we found we had the Snow white doll, and I have to say we were impressed with the toy. The doll was a lot larger than we had thought it might be, and perfect for my one year old daughter. When she holds the doll it covers the whole of her chest and sits perfectly on the top half of her body so she can carry it well, but it is a substantial present.
Snow white is very pretty in appearance. She has a gentle face that is slightly cartoonier than other Disney princesses you can buy. She looks like a young toddler with big eyes and my little girl really likes the softer more youthful face. All of the detailing is perfect from the stitching of the dress, to the details of the eyes they are all done perfectly to build a good quality finish.
The dolls are very soft and their clothes are lovely to touch. She is made up of a soft body, with a plastic head but even the head has a very soft finish. She is wearing the usual Snow white dress and the dress does come off which my daughter loves. She is too young yet to do this herself, she usually gets help from her big sister but she enjoys trying to pull it off.
Her hands and feet have all five fingers and toes and she even has dimples on her legs to represent knees. All of the body parts are in place and it is great for using to introduce body parts to my little girl. It is not a posable doll, and really it is just a soft toy but it is perfect as a first doll when babies are just exploring. The lack of movement does put my older daughter off a little, but my younger daughter just loves it and does not care that she cannot do much with it. She never puts it down and even takes it to sleep with her.
My one worry from the doll is the hair. It has got actual strands of hair that can be pulled out. Snow white comes with a lovely red bow that has long disappeared, and the hair is becoming really matted and tangled. As my little girl is at the age of putting things straight to her mouth she often gets a mouth full of hair. It is well made so not much of the hair comes out when it is pulled, but it is not invincible and I feel I have to keep an eye on her while she is playing with it. My little girl loves that it has real hair, but as she is too young to do anything with it I am not sure it is really needed.
.Also I would have liked the smaller pieces like the slippers and headband sown in place. They slip off the doll within seconds and now are sitting at the bottom of a toy box. I tried to put them back on but they just fell off again within seconds so I gave up. They are not small enough to pose a choking hazard, but I did still worry. Again my little girl does not really care about this I just think it could have been designed a little better for the target age range.
Age recommendation is one year plus which I think is fair. The doll may be a little too big for younger babies, but for my now 14 month old little girl it is the perfect size. There is nothing that can hurt little one in any way and the whole of the doll is incredibly soft to touch. The padding inside the doll fills it well so it is a great size and really cuddly. It is definitely designed for smaller children and it has suited to them best. I think it may be a little simple for older girls, but for preschool children it is perfect.
I would recommend this doll to anyone with younger girls. My one year old daughter absolutely loves it, and it is the perfect size for cuddles. The more cartoony appearance really appeals to her and she spends a long time studying the clothes of the doll and generally carrying it around with her. It really does make the perfect first doll, and we will be buying the other two variations for her Christmas as she likes them that much. My eldest little girl who is four also really likes this doll. It does not hold her attention as much as it does my younger daughter, but she still enjoys it. At £10 each or 2 dolls for £15 from Argos I think they represent excellent value for money and we will be buying the other two variations.
This disney princess doll is of a lovely size about 25cm and my daughters one cost £9.99 although I did purchase it from Argos as part of the 2toys for £15 so worth shopping around.
The reason I like this doll is that it has a lovely soft body and I like the fact that the face is plastic. Therefore my little girl can give her princess lots of kisses & it doesn't matter if my son's friend's try to feed it chocolate cake as it can be easily wiped. This has been also been through the washing machine a few times& still looks great. I just placed it in on a 30 degree wash and then hung it up to dry. Even the bow is still attached after lots of rough and tumble which I must admit I did expect it to at least look tatty by now.
The doll does look like the character and has a sweet little face as often these sorts of dolls can have scary eyes. This would be great as a gift as it does look like it is worth more than what I paid for it especially given the size and that it is Disney. The best thing is that it does not make a noise! I love the fact that it is simply a doll for cuddles. There are also no small parts making iit an ideal first dolly.
This doll is available in a range of Disney Princess- snow white, cinderella and Belle.
