Nick jr is a very crafty channel. Between all of their cartoons is an advert of some sort for a toy or game and my 3 year old daughter is very gullible and of course wants all of them! She keeps asking me to buy her "all the toys" and in a bid to keep her quiet I always say yes! So after about 3 weeks of this, I decided I'd buy her a treat and actually get her something new that would keep her entertained for more than 5 minutes!
Near where I work is a Disney store, so I decided to have a little break during my lunchtime and I spotted this Rapunzel doll for £12.50 which I thought was a bargain so bought it for her. The joy on her face when I picked her up from nursery and she actually had a new toy (she usually has a look of disappointment when it turns out I haven't in fact bought her "all the toys" lol!) was well worth it and she has been glued to her new rapunzel doll since!
She comes packaged like a normal plastic doll, attached by gazillions of tight wires to a cardboard backing and a clear plastic cover on the front so you can see inside the box at the lovely doll. I have to say when she got home it was then a next DIY job for me to open her out her prison of the box as she sure is in securely! But once shes out, she feels good quality and has lovely details to match.
The rapunzel doll has long flowing hair (hence the name!) which is the same length as her body. She wears a purple corset type purple dress which is sparkly and flows outwards at the hips making her look very elegant. The dress she has on is removable from a velcro strip at the back so I may buy my daughter some exchangeable outfits if I see any next time I pop into the Disney store!
The rapunzel doll is quite versatile in that she is more flexible compared to the traditional barbie doll my daughter already has. At the ankles, elbows, knees bum there are joints which bend and move in a circular motion and can rotate all around so she can actually be positioned e.g. sitting down, or walking, bending down on one knee (you never know!) and so my daughter can do a lot more action and role play with this doll as opposed to barbie who is either a) standing up or b) sitting down with legs straight out!
Rapunzel comes with a pair of purple flat shoes which are also removable and a hair brush for of course maintaining her mane. One thing I have to say - and this could be due to my daughter's rough man handling of the doll - is that within 24 hours of having her, rapunzel's hair became quite matted and frizzy and took a bit of a battle to drag a brush through it! Upon opening the box, she had long luxurious golden locks which were very soft, free flowing and looked lovely but within a short matter of time that was all a myth! The shine had gone and she looked like a toy my daughter had owned for months lol. The brush that came with rapunzel was teeny so of course is also lost already so now my daughter just uses her own hair brush in rapunzel's hair to make it look half decent!
Overall I think this is a great quality doll and my daughter loves it, telling me she is bringing "princess" to bed with her, and out in the car with her on her way to nursery. For £12.50 I think the price is reasonable and she's been through the mill a bit and is still going strong so I'd definitely recommend it as a present to any young girls who like dolls and like playing with lots of hair!
