Advantages: Lots to keep little ones busy

Disadvantages: Very overpriced

My daughter received this for her first birthday from an aunt who was happy to be buying her her first dolls house. And it's a lovely little house and just perfect for little hands and imaginations!

The cream coloured house has a bright pink roof, windows and doors, with flowers growing up the front of the house.

There's a tree at the side of the house, complete with a little platform on the top branch, and steps leading up to a decking area at the base of the tree. Underneath the tree is a small hole where the rabbit lives. The green tree top comes off, perhaps a little too easily and never seems to be on. The front door suffers the same fate as similar doors on buildings in the range, and is forever falling off.

The house opens up into two halves with a lower and upper floor inside. There's not a huge amount of built-in floor space and it can be difficult to fit in the supplied furniture.

Inside the front door is the lounge, with rugs on the floor and curtains at the window. Upstairs from that is the bedroom. Upstairs on the other side is the bathroom, with built-in toilet, bath and sink. Downstairs on the other side is the kitchen, with built-in sink, fridge (door opens), cooker and pet bed. Stable doors lead out of the kitchen. It would have been nice to have some sound effects in the house, like on other Happyland products.

Supplied are two beds, a dressing table, two chairs, a round table with cakes on, two female figures, a rabbit, cat and squirrel.

My daughters have had a lot of fun playing with the cottage, although the four year old has more or less outgrown it now. It's great for role play, playing house, using imaginations, and developing social skills.
Full price for this is £38 which is a lot, even with the free horsebox that's currently included when you buy the cottage.

Summary: A good buy if you can get it in the sales
