A good mini doll set for the over 3s

We already have the ELC Cup Cake Stroller in pink which I have already reviewed, which my toddler daughter loves. At the same time we bought her the ELC Cup Cake Baby Bedtime doll which is a mini set.

The Cup Cake Baby Bedtime doll and rocking cot is available from the Early Learning Centre stores and in larger Mothercare Stores which have an ELC concession. You can also buy the set online from ELC.co.uk though an additional post and packing charge applies. This is good if you don't live near a store, however. Delivery in my experience takes about 4 - 5 days.

In terms of price, and value, I'd say the ELC Cup Cake Baby Bedtime doll and rocking cot is excellent value for money as it's priced at £8 for the doll and a sweet little rocking cot. The cup cake dolls (the larger ones) alone cost £6 so to get the cot effectively for £2 in a nice gift box looks so lovely and would make an excellent gift for any young girl. One thing to note however is that this is a mini doll, smaller than the regular sized cup cake dolls, ideal for travel. Another point to note is that the packaging states not suitable for children under 36 months, I can't see anything too dangerous on there however the hands are moulded so it is probably due to the fact they could poke themselves in the eye. Also, as the crib is a rocking one there is the small risk of trapped fingers. It is not a soft plush sort of doll so it is suited to 3+ I agree.

So, what do you get in the set? You get a cup cake mini doll dressed in a night time all in one complete with hat, and you get a pink plastic rocking crib which has a little blanket set inside. It's very sweet, and the cup cake mini doll just snugly fits inside the crib and rocks with a little push.

I do think there is longevity here in terms of play as at that age children love imagination play and with the addition of a vanishing milk bottle (which I've already reviewed) my daughter can feed the baby and tuck her up in bed, which she loves (and as an added bonus most of her other little soft toys get to have a bit of milk and a tuck in and a rock, too ;) ). It's such a sweet toy and just the right age, not too old or inappropriate and with lots of supporting toys in the set at ELC. Overall I highly recommend the ELC Cup Cake Baby Bedtime doll and rocking cot as for £8 it's a lovely little gift my daughter cherishes and it comes out in the car with us too (cot and all..!) and my daughter loves to show everyone how she puts dolly to bed. ELC toys are always so imaginitively designed and appealing to children and this is no exception. Overall I will award it a 4/5 - I wish the doll was a bit more plush or had a removable hat etc for further imagination play but apart from that tiny niggle it's a lovely toy and well used.

Settle the baby for a nap. We can cover her with the blanket and help her cuddle the teddy. Rock the cradle and sing her a lullaby too.

Soft bodied doll comes with a cradle, sheet, pillow, blanket, teddy bear and removable outfit.

Not suitable for children under 36 months due to small parts
