Advantages: Good imaginative play, fits with any small dolls set, excellent quality
Disadvantages: Expensive, have to fix the mirror in place
I really wanted to get my daughter the ELC Rosebud House but it was deemed too big and too expensive so I decided to just get her some of the dolls and then the furniture sets instead that could be stored in a box as needed. She later got a much smaller dolls house so is now able to play with her dolls in her house. She got his set when she was 22 months.
---About the range:
The Early Learning Centre Rosebud Family Figure Set is part of the Rosebud range available from ELC. All of the range are in the main colours of pink and white making them more suitab le for girls. The range includes the actual Rosebud dolls house, furniture sets for different rooms, dolls families, pet sets and smaller dolls sets.
---About the set:
The bedroom set consists of a wardrobe, double bed, bedding, 2 bedside cabinets, 2 lamps, a rug and a wall mirror. Most of the set is pink and white like the rest of the range, but with a bit of blue in the lamp and the rug. The set comes in a cardboard box with a picture on the front showing all the items set up like they were in a bedroom. It is easy to get the items out and doesn't take very long so you won't have little ones waiting for ages. There is no assembly required so it is just get out of the box and play! The bed coers that come with the bed ar a lovely checked pattern and there is a duvet and then two pillows with little hearts on them.
---Our experiences:
My daughter was so excited when she saw the box for this and wanted it opened as soon as we got home with it. We took all the pieces out and she proudly carried them to her dolls house. Unfortunately the wardrobe is too big for the house she has so that was relegated to the toy box and the rest was put into her house. She put the dolls in the bed and covered them with the duvet and took great care putting the lamps on the tables in the attic of her house. She spent a lot of time looking in the mirror but as there is no way to fix it other than to glue it/use sticky tabs, then we have left that in the corner of the room. the rug went on one of the floors and she was happy.
She's had the set now for about 3 months and the bed is the part that gets played with the most. She loves putting the dolls to bed and covering them up and it is great to see her imaginative play develop with this set. The wardrobe still doesn't get played with much although occassionally the doll baby gets put in there and I'm not sure why...
---My findings:
I really love this range of toys and if I had the money and the space I would probably buy an awful lot of it. The colours are lovely for my little girl and the quality is excellent and is still in pristine condidtion despite near daily play. However, I probably wouldn't recommend this set as highly as I don't think you get much for your £15 and there are other sets where you get a lot more for your money. I bought this at half price and I think it is well worth that, but I would not have paid full price for it. The fact that it doesn't fit in our dolls house is not an issue as she rarely plays with everything together anyway. I do think that it would have been better though if the mirror had been a free standing one as I don't want to fix it permanently to the walls. (I suppose I could try blu-tac...)
---And finally:
This is a very girly set with the colours and my daughter really enjoys playing with it. As past of a whole set, I would recommend it, but if you are just buying one, I would recommend a different set for a similar price as I don't think this one gives the best value for money. This set is fine for my 2 year old daughter, even though the age range is for 3+ as none of the pieces are that small and I'm happy to let my daughter play with it.
