ELC Rosebud House Living Room Set

Date: 10/11/11

Rating:

Advantages: Good for imaginative play, well made, good quality, lots of pieces

Disadvantages: The plant comes apart too easily

I really wanted to get my daughter the ELC Rosebud House but it was deemed too big and too expensive so I decided to just get her some of the dolls and then the furniture sets instead that could be stored in a box as needed. She later got a much smaller dolls house so is now able to play with her dolls in her house. She got his set when she was 22 months.

---About the range:
The Early Learning Centre Rosebud Family Figure Set is part of the Rosebud range available from ELC. All of the range are in the main colours of pink and white making them more suitab le for girls. The range includes the actual Rosebud dolls house, furniture sets for different rooms, dolls families, pet sets and smaller dolls sets.

---About the set:
The living room set consists of a two person sofa, two chairs, a coffee table, a TV unit, a TV, a free standing lamp, a pot plant, a taller plant, a rug, 4 cushions and matching seat pads for the chairs. The set comes in a cardboard box with a picture on the front showing all the items set up like they were in a living room. It is easy to get the items out and doesn't take very long so you won't have little ones waiting for ages. There is no assembly required except to put the large green plant in its pot which takes a few seconds; so it is just get out of the box and play! The chairs and sofa are white with pink and white pads and cushions. The table and TV unit are pink whilst the TV and rug are blue. Everything matches the other furniture sets and the Rosebud doll's house which can also be purchased.

---Our experiences:
My daughter already had a couple of sets from this range so recognised the box when I got it home and was very excited to open it. Everything came out easily and we straight away started playing with it all. We started to put it all into her dolls house and even though it is smaller than the ELC one, everything fitted nicely and she was able to play with it. All the items are recognisable to her so she was able to play with them and develop her imaginative play with little encouragement.

She's had the set now for about 5 months and the set is still very much played with. She enjoys putting the people on the chairs and getting them to watch the TV although she struggles to bend the legs of her dolls. Now she generally just puts her little animal families on the chairs instead!

---My findings:
I really love this range of toys and if I had the money and the space I would probably buy an awful lot of it. The colours are lovely for my little girl and the quality is excellent and is still in pristine condidtion despite near daily play. I would probably rate this as a very good set to buy and can be played with independently of any other sets or the dolls house. It fits nicely into our much smaller house and has a lot of items to encourage imaginative play. The only issue with it is that I wish they had stuck the plant in the plant pot instead of allowing it to come out as my daughter keeps taking it out and then can't get it back in on her own. There is a lot of play to be had with this toy although the part that gets left behind most are the cushions as my daughter finds it a bit fiddly to put these on the chairs, but I think this is something she might be able to do when older.

---And finally:
This is a very girly set with the colours and my daughter really enjoys playing with it. I would definitely recommend this set as I think it has a reasonable value for money as you get a lot of items in the set. It costs £15 for this set although I managed to get it half price when our ELC was closing down and I feel that you get enough play for your money. This set is fine for my 2 year old daughter, even though the age range is for 3+ as none of the pieces are that small and I'm happy to let my daughter play with it. I think this set will give her a lot of joy for many years.

Summary: Well recommended
