My daughter's been collecting the Sylvanian families range for quite some time now and has, to date, amassed one heck of a collection indeed, having either bought herself or she has been given to as presents.
But before I go on I will tell you a little about the Sylvanian families for those people who have never heard of them.
The Sylvanian families range began in the mid 1980's and has become more and more popular over time. The range consists of cute little animals such as dogs, cats, beavers, penguins and others, who come in families which usually consist of a mum, a dad, a couple of kids and some grand parents.
The families live in various properties, such as cottages, farm houses, mansion and even a boat or two, with travelling around in cars or even on a motorbike.
Anyway, in my daughters ever growing collection she now got several houses, in a range of sizes, from a lovely little cottage, a quaint little farm and even a grand looking mansion which towers over the rest of the Sylvanian world. One little building she has is called the rainbow nursery which comes with this little rather strange looking object, although when I say comes with I really mean it goes with as you have to buy this one separately.
This little Sylvanian families 'object' is in fact a toilet which as I say goes with the nursery and has been given the name the Sylvanian Families Nursery bathroom, although, as the name may suggest, doesn't actually contain a bathroom, more a toilet or two and a sink.
This bathroom set itself actually comes in two parts which can either be fitted together back to back or be used separately, it's up to you, but the entire thing, when placed together, is only 160mm high, 100mm wide and 60mm deep, so it won't take up too much room at all.
One part has two toilets, one male and one female, with a panel splitting the two. When you see the toilets you'll know instantly which is which, although the female, sit down toilet can be used by the male for a number two. The 'sit down' toilet is the only one that has a door, the 'stand up one doesn't, although this one does have a lovely yellow wooden seat which does open and close.
The other part has the wash basin, which is actually more a trough with a couple of taps which get the flow of water into it, although there's no flowing water at all, in fact the taps don't even work at all, not even moving, so it's more a feature than anything else.
This wash basin in designed to look as though it is embedded into a tree stump.
around a tree, with the trunk being in the centre and the lovely green leaves above it.
That's about it really for this bathroom, although why they called it a bathroom I don't know as it contains neither a bath nor is it a room, but a nursery bathroom it is.
It is meant to look like an outside toilet so don't expect any walls to block the wind, (well one sort of wind anyway), and there's no ceiling either so if it rains you will get more than wet shoes, so to speak.
It may be small and should only really be used for the smaller Sylvanian children as the adult characters are just too big for doing their business in this toilet.
And remember, you don't get any little figures with this one but there's not a lot of Sylvanian 'building' that you do get figures included is there?
As for the price, well this is selling for around £5.00, which is about the right price for what you get, considering there's nothing here really to play with as I can't see many children wanting to take there Sylvanian babies to the toilet, let alone wash their hands.
So I suppose this is aimed more at the collector rather than the player, and is probably worth adding to a collection, positioning near the Rainbow nursery maybe.
The Nursery Bathroom Set can be set up with the toilets and wash handbasin side by side or back to back. Includes 2 units: one with girl's and boy's toilets, the other with a wash handbasin. Please note: Figures not included
