“ Brand: Flair / Type: Doll House „
The Rose Cottage is the second smallest house in the Sylvanian Families range (the smallest being the carry case cottage)
It features a lovely pink/red roof, cream walls and light wood effect front door with a front porch. Inside the house there are two rooms, one downstairs and one upstairs that have a ladder that attaches onto the top level. The pack usually contains a figure, cooker, table, 2 chairs and a bed to get you started.
Although the house is fairly small, you are able to fit a cooker, sofa and a table and chairs on the bottom level and the top room will take a bed, wardrobe and toilet with sink.
As with all Sylvanian Families products, they are not cheap but this is definitely the best home for a little girl or boy to start with as it does not take much to fill it.
The great thing about the Rose/Bramble/Applewood cottages are that they stack on top of a few buildings such as the Applewood Department Store, Village Store, Toy Shop and the Village Bakery.
My little girl loved this basic house as her starter home and still plays with it alongside her other items after many years!
This house has been discontinued from the range but can easily be picked up second hand. They have since replaced this home with the Sycamore/Daisy cottage that can be purchased for around £24.99 and if purchased from the official shop you get a free pack of wallpaper too!
I bought Rose Cottge for my 8 year old daughter for Christmas and I'm afraid to say that I'm disappointed with it. It's the smallest of the Sylvanian houses - around 30 cm long and I think it's the cheapest, and comes with a table, 2 chairs and a rabbit, all of which look huge in the house so that you can't fit much else in it.
The house also lacks the kind of detail that you get with other Sylvanian merchandise hence it didn't really grab me or my daughter in the way the caravan and the bigger houses did that we've seen. Of course this house is cheaper but you may end up having to buy one of the bigger houses at a later date.
In retrospect I should have paid more and got one of the bigger houses that can at least accomodate the sets of Sylvanian Family furniture available separately. For example, I bought the bedroom set earlier in the year for her which comes with a bed, bedside table, mirror table and wardrobe but this house can't accomodate it so it seems pretty pointless to me.
On the plus side it's a sturdy structure so will perhaps be a good starter home for a younger child who might be a bit more heavy handed with their toys or for a child who doesn't really take to the Sylvanian Family toys so you won't have wasted money.
My daughter received this cottage last year for her birthday, it's a gorgeous little cottage with a little front door that opens. As with all sylvanian families stuff it is extremely well made. The back is open so that it's easy to play with, it has an upstairs and a downstairs.
It comes with a little rabbit and a table and two chairs. Unfortunatley the rabbit doesn't have a name and I can't find one in the book, all the other sylvanian characters have names so I'm not sure why this one hasn't but to be honest my daughter doesn't care!
We also bought a little family to go with it and a little bed so it's made a nice little house.
Although Sylvanaian's are quite exensive they are extremely well made and very intricate in detail. I find the best buys are the ones with the most accessories in them like the party set or the shoe shop.
We added to the collection this christmas and hope to add more in the future. This cottage is the smallest of all the sylvanian properties it's about 30cm x 20cm by about 25cm high. It has ladders to go to the upstairs.
The cottage is well made and look lovely, all the parts are well put together and nothing is flimsy.
The best place to buy from is Yew Baby Farm in Pailton in the midlands they have really good prices. They do have an online shop but it's not easy to navigate at all, if you live close it's worth a visit. www.babyequipmentcomplete.com
having said that I can't find the rose cottage on their site at the moment but it's £17.50 on amazon at the moment.
A good buy I'd say.
It was my younger daughter's fourth birthday on Saturday and from her grandparents she received this delightful Rose Cottage which is part of the Sylvanian Families range. They had already bought her a little family for Christmas but they didn't have anywhere to live - hence this cottage.
I love the entire Sylvanian families range and I think all of the products are particularly well made with good attention to detail and this cottage is no exception. It is made of a very sturdy plastic but it almost looks like wood. The cottage has two rooms over two floors with a connecting ladder between the two. It has a door and windows that open and close at the front. The back is open though allowing the child full access to play inside it. The cottage has a red roof and has a really lovely cottagey look to it.
It's not a very big house but it is the right size for any of the Sylvanian families. The dimensions are probably about 30cm wide x 20cm deep with a height of about 30cm. It's very lightweight too so both the size and the weight make it very easy for a small child to move it around so they are not restricted to playing in just one place.
The upstairs room has a built in stove which can't be moved. The house also comes with some additional furniture too which is one little figure and table and chairs. This is obviously not enough to fill the house but it is a start and means that your child has some bits to play with even if you have not got any other bits of furniture. As it happens the grandparents had already bought a kitchen set at Christmas and these all fit into the house very well.
Everything has a really charming old fashioned look to it and when the house is full of figures and furniture it really does have a delightful charming feel to it. Ever since she opened it on Saturday my daughter and her older sister have really enjoyed playing with the cottage and it seems to have provoked lots of imaginative ideas and talk. I always love listening in to my girls playing together and this has definitely captured their imaginations.
This house is recommended for children aged four and over and I can see it providing hours of fun for a long time. This will be especially so if we continue to add to our sylvanian collection which I am sure we will.
We did not actually buy this house as it was a present but I have just looked on Amazon and seen that it is on sale there for £24.95. As with all the products, it is not particularly cheap but I do believe that you are paying for quality. Also, Sylvanian Family products are stocked in a number of different places so it probably is worth shopping around.
I an really pleased with this small product and it's an excellent starter home for our Sylvanian figures. I like the fact that it helps entertain my daughters and also because the whole collection can be added to there will be endless possibilities for presents in the future.
Rose cottage comes complete with a figure, furniture and accessories for a complete play environment. This is the perfect home if you're buying your first house in Sylvania or just want a place for your new family to live and play.
