This is a gorgeous figurine that I've owned for a while, but was previously unable to review it as I could not find a photograph to supply to Dooyoo to accompany my product suggestion. I eventually managed to locate one on Amazon, but the colour theme in my figurine differs to the one as shown above and are much more vibrant.
I bought this resin figurine for the bargain price of £15 from ebay towards the end of last year and the seller indicated a home collection. Unfortunately, as I was unable to collect due to the distance involved I requested she post her to me, but sadly two of the legs were badly damaged in transit due to the item not being adequately protected. As I had requested delivery as opposed to home collection I did not have the heart to complain to the seller.
Whilst this figurine is named Betty on her Sofa, she actually lies on a chaise lounge with mine being a gorgeous bright blue in colour. She wears a ruby red mini dress which co-ordinates beautifully with her sofa and her left leg is slightly poised with her right leg lying outstretched. Betty seems to adore her garters and this figurine shows her wearing a pretty yellow one adorned with a red heart motif. This is one of the few figurines that does not show Betty wearing her high-heeled stilettos and instead of shoes we are able to see her tiny delicate toes.
Her arms lie casually on the sides of the chaise lounge, which has been beautifully painted, as you can even see the creases in the resin "fabric", where there are tiny yellow buttons where the material indents. There is an old fashioned chunky black telephone situated at the edge of the sofa, which displays the old style mouthpiece and there is even a tiny dial on the front and a wired curly cord attaching the handset to the actual phone. Situated in front of Betty is an opened book, which has been manufactured to give the impression of individual pages.
The legs of the chaise lounge are perfectly sculptured, but as stated, sadly two of them were quite badly damaged in transit. However, hubby was able to successfully reattach some of the pieces, but unfortunately, if you were to closely inspect my figurine you would clearly be able to detect the damage, as in some areas the pieces of resin shattered into dozens of tiny flake like pieces.
The underside of the figurine displays a tiny image of Betty, which is the official stamps of the manufacturers, namely Hearst Holdings Inc, who own the Trademark.
As in all of the Betty Boop figurines, her tiny black glossy curls are depicted by eight points along the top of her head, swirls pointing towards her face and a tiny curl at the nape of her neck. To complete her look, Betty wears a pair of golden hoop earrings. The facial features rarely differ from one figurine to the next as they all show her stunning eyes open wide and long curly black eyelashes and poised ruby red lips.
If you are interested in purchasing Betty Boop on her Sofa I would advise that she is available from Amazon for £34.95 + £4.65 postage and packing and I can confirm that I have received a first class service from the traders from whom I have purchased my figurines.
Unfortunately, I would never purchase a figurine from ebay again, as quite a few have been damaged due to carelessness on the part of Royal Mail and inadequate packing by the seller. However, I have no concerns with buying through Amazon, particularly as the figurines are brand new and are transported securely within the original packing.
As this figurine is so cute, I have to rate it on its' workmanship and not my individual collectable. Consequently, this receives 5 out of 5 dooyoo stars.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
