As you are no doubt aware, I am Betty Boop mad and have made a number of product suggestions to Dooyoo to enable me to review some of the more detailed and eye-catching figurines. You will be pleased to hear that I am nearing the end of reviewing these gorgeous figurines and there are now only two more awaiting posting on Dooyoo.
The collectable I am reviewing today is Betty Boop Showgirl, a fairly new figurine, which is manufactured by the owners of the Betty Boop trademark, namely Hearst Holdings Inc. To enable you to ensure your figure's authenticity, you will generally find their official stamp located somewhere on the figurine and in this case, it is displayed on the underside of her dress.
This gorgeous resin figurine is considerably heavy and stands at 17 inches high including her beautiful white-feathered headdress, which can be removed and replaced on Betty's head by way of a large plastic pin. The base of her headdress is triangular and has been painted to match Betty's outfit with a co-ordinating narrow white border. Situated below the dozens of stunning feathers and for the finishing touch, is a pretty star shaped brooch.
Betty proudly stands with her hands resting on her hips and displays her extremely curvaceous figure, as she proudly shows it off by wearing her blue glittered bikini top, which has been perfectly painted onto the resin.
Her skirt is extremely short and revealing in the front with the rear section flowing to the floor and edged with a beautiful grey coloured ruffle of resin. The manufactures have sculptured the skirt to create the impression of creases in the resin fabric, which looks very realistic. Betty's high-heeled shoes have been painted in matching grey and display a double ankle strap fastening.
Normally Betty is adorned with plenty of sparkling bangles and rings, but this figurine shows her simply wearing a pair of red heart shaped diamante earrings.
Whilst I adore this figurine, the headdress as displayed in the above photograph is considerably smaller and does not resemble that in the picture shown. My other complaint with this figurine is that the glitter is constantly detaching itself and subsequently leaving a mess on the glass shelf within my display cabinet.
Hearst Holdings manufactured a more beautiful figurine exclusively for Danbury Mint where the headdress lights up with dozens of tiny sparkling lights. Unfortunately, as this collectable is no longer available I am unable to make a product suggestion to Dooyoo.
Other than the minor flaws as described above, in my opinion, this figurine is considerably spectacular and appears stunning when on display, particularly as hubby has fixed lights within my cabinet to enable the glitter to sparkle.
If you are interested in purchasing Betty Boop Showgirl I would advise that she is available from Amazon for £44.99 plus £4 postage and packing.
As this figurine has the two flaws, it loses one star from me.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
