I can only apologise that this is another Betty Boop review and one that I wanted to write some time ago, but unfortunately, I could not product suggest this figurine to Dooyoo as I was unable to locate an online supplier. Fortunately, Amazon now have this in their catalogue and I provided the above photograph to Dooyoo, but the colours in my figurine differ. However, since making my product suggestion Amazon currently have my exact figurine for sale on their website.
I purchased this gorgeous figurine last year in Swanage, Dorset whilst on holiday where hubby took me to where he was born and showed me his childhood haunts, so this figurine has some special memories of a wonderful holiday (other than the horrendous rain that we had almost every day!).
I absolutely adore this figurine due to its' extremely eye-catching colours. Whilst the figurine shown above shows Betty's hatband and outfit as orange, my figurine wears bright yellow. I was in total Betty Boop heaven when walking around the dozens of figurines that were on display in the tiny seaside shop and it was this one (and a few others!) that caught my eye. The reason I love this figurine is that Betty generally tends to wear either black, red or white and it is very unusual to see her in yellow.
The figurine is manufactured from resin and stands (or in this case sits!) at approximately 25cm in height and approximately 14 cm in width and is fairly heavy at well over a kilogram. Betty sits cross-legged on the edge of a gorgeous chair, which has been designed to create the image of mahogany wood. The manufacturers, namely Hearst Holdings Inc, the owners of the Betty Boop Trademark, have most certainly made a good job of this, as until you actually touch the chair you would definitely believe it was wooden, particularly as they have even painted in the tiny lines you would find on real wood.
I wish I could provide an additional photograph for you to see the exquisite detail on the rear of this figurine, but if you are interested, Amazon show several views of this beautiful collectable.
Betty wears an extremely revealing yellow swimsuit, which has been edged in a curvy black frill and what I find quite remarkable is that the manufacturers have designed the frill to stand out from the swimsuit to create the illusion of fabric. Betty's right hand is outstretched as if she is about to touch the large brim of her hat and her left hand rests against her right knee.
Whilst the above figurine wears high-heeled black platform sandals mine wears yellow and the manufacturers have even created her extremely tiny toes. I absolutely adore Betty's hat, as it is very rare you see her wearing anything on her head and this figurine has a huge 4cm brim and a narrow yellow band.
As with all of the Betty Boop figurines, curvy points depict her curly black curls and on this collectable we see three on Betty's right hand side. Betty's facial features very rarely alter from one figurine to the next where we see her wide open green eyes and long black eye lashes and puckered ruby red lips.
Underneath Betty's chair you will find the official Betty Boop stamp and the year of launch and I was surprised to see that this is stamped 2007, particularly as I was of the opinion that it was fairly new.
If you are interested in purchasing this figurine, I would advise that she is available from Amazon for £36.99 plus £4.65 P + P. You can either choose to have her wearing orange as per the above photograph or yellow as my figurine. As this is such a gorgeous figurine, she gets the full 5 out of 5 dooyoo stars from me.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
