Unfortunately, I reach the grand old age of 43 on Monday, but with my birthday has brought some Betty Boops - yes more Bettys! If you've been following my previous reviews, you are probably thinking "where on earth is she going to put them?". Well, hubby has now been relocated to the shed! No seriously, space is rather scarce now, so I think my Betty passion will soon need to cease or better still, I'll have to store some of the older ones in the attic. This review discusses one of my newest Betty Boop figurines and is a very welcomed present from my dear Mum and Dad. Betty Boop 20's figurine is an absolutely stunning collectable and is manufactured from resin, stands at 12 inches high and is fixed firmly to a glossy black circular base. This figurine is quite exquisite, as the attention to detail is simply superb. As with all of the official Betty Boop figurines, she is manufactured by Hearst Holdings Inc who are the owners of the Betty Boop Trademark and you will find their official stamp on the underside of all genuine collectables. Betty is perfectly dressed in traditional 20's attire where we see her wearing a gorgeous red mini dress, which has been designed to show six layers of beautiful frills. On first glance you would initially believe the dress to be fabric, as the dozens of frills look so realistic, particularly where the section hangs below her chest and it is quite amazing to realise that this is made entirely from resin. Betty wears a pair of gorgeous pearl white glossy gloves, where again no attention to detail has been spared, as there are tiny creases in the resin "fabric" to depict folds as the long sexy gloves reach up towards her elbows. Betty's left arm is held in an upright position with the palm of her hand facing outward and her left arm and fingers are outstretched, so she is clearly ready to dance the charleston! Betty's kicks her right leg behind her where we are able to see her tiny silver shoes; the colour of which perfectly co-ordinates with her gloves. The manufacturers have even placed a tiny red bow on each of the buckles to mirror the gorgeous colour of her dress. When I removed this figurine from the box I initially thought the pearl necklace was real, but was pleasantly surprised to see that tiny balls of resin have been glued to the figurine to create a string of pearls and have then painted a shiny white. What I absolutely adore about this figurine is the gorgeous red fluffy pom pom, which is situated on top of one of Betty's cute curls and attached to a stunning row of sparkling sequins that fit neatly across the top of her head. To complete the look and to give her some further sparkle, Betty wears a pretty pair of red glass heart shaped earrings. In all of the Betty Boop figurines eight points running along the top of her head and eight swirls on her face depict her glossy black curls. If you are interested in purchasing this cute little figurine I would advise that she is available from Amazon and at the time of writing (6 September 2010) she can be purchased from two retailers where one is charging £44.50 + £4.50 P + P and the other £47 inclusive of P+P. However, my Mum and Dad inform me that they paid a much more acceptable price from a Betty Boop high street stockist. I would highly recommend this figurine to all Betty Boop fans and consequently, she receives a full 5 out of 5 dooyoo stars from me. I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
