Advantages: Different, cool dress
Disadvantages: Weird looking
This doll is an example of what happens when you send your husband out Christmas shopping for your three year old daughter without giving him a specific list of items to buy, he comes back with this rather strange looking doll.
I had never seen these dolls before but apparently there are rather a large collection of them available to purchase in all different types of themes and clothes. I ahve to admit that I didn't really like her at first but my daughter seems to really like her and I think she's interesting and a bit different so she has become a favourite in our house although I'm not giving my husband credit for it. According to an article I read," The Lalaloopsy dolls were once rag dolls who magically came to life, taking on the personalities of the fabrics that were used to make them. They live in a colourful, silly world, and it's your job to keep the magic of their world alive."
The Feather tell a tale doll is an American Indian doll. She has a really cute outfit on and you can definitely tell that this is her theme. In fact, we call her Pochahontas in our house because she looks so authentic. She is wearing a yellow dress that's made out of suede, its fringed around the bottom and has two ties around the collar. She also has a headband in her hair and a feather in the back of the headband. Her hair is made out of plastic so its not hair that you can play with though. Here's where the doll looks a bit weird though in my opinion and I gather this is the same for all the dolls. Her head is huge and made of quite heavy plastic so she is like a bobble head as the head moves around and bobbles where it is attached to the neck. Then she has quite a regular sized body and again funny looking legs that just hang and swing at the end of her body. The doll will sit up but she is quite hard to balance due to her huge head. I think its hard in a way for my daughter to know what to do with her at this age. She's not a doll that you can cuddle and carry around easily but she does play some fun games with her now and again but she's definitely not as loved as a real baby like her Baby Annabel.
The background story about this particular doll is that she is, "Sewn from Pocahontas' dress, Feather Tell-a-tale is a nature girl who lalaloves animals. When she's not roaming the woods with her pet totem bear, this 33cm tall Native-American doll can be found braiding her hair, doing crafts and telling stories from morning til night."
She came with her own little pet as all the LaLa dolls do. She has a little orange teddy bear which again has an American Indian theme to it but looks a bit weird as it has two faces, on one its head and one on its tummy. I also find it a bit plastic looking but then its just a toy for another toy.
The doll was approximately £20 and is cute but I don't think we will be adding to our collection any time soon.
