      Disadvantages

A nice quality pocket money toy, but it's also quite expensive for the size.

      Sew Magical - Sew cute
      ---------------------------

Let me firstly tell you the story behind the dolls. The Lalaloopsy where once rag dolls who magically came to life, when their very last stitch was sewn. Each doll has its own personality according to the fabric that they were made from.

      Spot Splatter Splash Mini Doll
      ----------------------------------

The purpose of my review today, is the mini Lalaloopsy Spot Splatter Splash. There are of course many other dolls and play accessories in the range and there are many collectors out there how simple HAVE to own each and every one. The mini Lalaloopsy my daughter owns, is just one out of a range of 64, (that's without the larger sized dolls) and so you see, the collection potential is endless, with new dolls coming out all the while.

      The Doll
      ----------

Spot Splatter Splash is a cute, blonde haired doll, the artist in the Lalaloopsy family. This is because her clothes were fashioned from painter's overalls. She's super creative and loves bright colors, big messes, and eating spaghetti. Just like my daughter. She has a pet zebra (my daughter adores horses - not quite there but close enough). The date she was sewn on was October 25th (International Artist Day), which coincidentally also happens to be Picasso's birthday). Each Doll follows the same theme, for instance, Misty Mysterious was manufactured from a Magicians Cape, loves Magic and was made on Houdini's birthday.

The mini play figure my daughter owns, is purchased within a large (compared to the doll) house shaped cardboard box, with a play scene printed on it. The front of the box is clear plastic and fastened quite securely to the rear. The downside to this though, my daughter being too impatient and excited to retrieve her new plaything ripped the cardboard box, rendering the play scene useless.

Inside you meet Spot Splatter Splash and her pet zebra. The zebra is a tiny red and white striped figure; and features black button eyes, just like Spot Splatter Splash. He would definitely pose a choking hazard for any child under three, so please keep this in mind. You also receive some ridicously tiny painting accessories - paint brush etc.

SSS though, although only around three inches tall, is quite flimsy looking, but surprisingly strong and robust. She's obviously been eating her Weetabix. Her head is made from a soft rubberized material, so it is firm but has some give in it. Her arms and legs, although not jointed, can be moved at the hinge point, and also have some flexibility to them. The dress though, is a solid plastic, and would stand being thrown, dropped etc, but probably not stood upon.

The detailing on the mini doll is as accurate as the larger sized dolls (30 cm). You would think that some of the intricate detailing would be lost, but they have maintained a superb quality of finish throughout - from her little button eyes, to the paint splashes on her dress.

My Personal gripe with this doll, is that it doesn't have the ability to stand up, or a stand, so that you can display them. The poor things get left lying around (literally).

      My Daughters Opinion
      -------------------------

My daughter is just starting her Lalaloopsy collection, at eight, she's quite a latecomer to it - but she has never really been a dolly girl, and more into Dr Who and Batman if the truth be told. I love it now though; I can divulge my passion for all things girly and spoil her. She has had so much fun with these mini figures, not only by herself, but also with her friends, who are avid collectors too. The age range for Lalalaloopsy dolls according to the box, states from 4 to 104, and although I wouldn't go with the 104 part, 4 and upwards certainly would be my opinion for a safety point of view. My daughter loves these dolls, in fact the whole range. She loves them and therefore I recommend them.

      My View
      ----------

Elysia would give the set five stars, but from a parental point of view I can only award three, as they are quite expensive at £5.99, for what you get. There is also the issue with the box, and the minute size of the accessories.

Thank you for reading my review, which may also be posted on other sites, under the same username.
