'The Lalaloopsy were once rag dolls who magically came to life when their very last stitch was sewn. Each doll has their own personality that comes from the fabrics used to make them. Lalaloopsy live in a whimsical world full of silly surprises, including Mini Lalaloopsy and fun Lalaloopsy playsets and accessories'. Well that's how the story goes anyway!
I first came across Lalaloopsy a couple of years ago when I saw a Lalaloopsy doll whilst out shopping. It was so lovely and original - like a traditional rag doll but with a very modern twist. At the time there were only a couple of Lalaloopsy dolls available. Now there is a whole Lalaloopsy world which include Lalaloopsy dolls, Lalaloopsy Littles, Lalaloopsy outfits, Lalaloopsy Minis and Lalaloopsy playsets!
Needless to say it was pretty soon after that my daughter received her first Lalaloopsy doll, which instantly set of her love of all things Loopsy! For Christmas (over a year ago) she asked for a Lalaloopsy Silly Hair doll. There are about 5 different Silly Hair dolls to choose from - we chose Crumbs Sugar Cookie. She came in a big, plastic, beautifully decorated box.
Here is the description of Crumbs Sugar Cookie: 'Crumbs Sugar Cookie was made from pieces of a baking apron. She is super-sweet, has perfect manners, and loves inviting friends over for tea and treats. She has a pet mouse'.
Lalaloopsy Silly Hair dolls look very similar to normal Lalaloopsy dolls, except they have longer hair which is made from bendy plastic and can be styled.
Crumbs Sugar Cookie is very cute looking. She has pink hair (some of it is moulded from plastic on to her head, the rest comes out of either side of her head like bunches), big black button eyes, rosy pink cheeks and a little smile. She wears a yellow check print outfit and big pink boots. Her clothes are fully removable and my daughter is constantly dressing/undressing her doll. She has pink knickers printed on underneath to cover her modesty! Her head is significantly bigger than her body, this makes her look cuter and more animated than if she was all one size. The downside of her big head (and hair) is that it makes her very heavy. My daughter often looks awkward and uncomfortable when playing with her doll and moving it about. The dolls arms and legs move which allows my daughter to sit the doll down, although she doesn't sit unaided (so needs propping up) and she doesn't stand up either. I personally think the doll would be designed better if she sat up by herself, as it's not easy styling somebody who keeps falling over! The dolls head can spin all the way around and can be tilted from side to side (she looks very cute with her head tilted to one side), this can be quite annoying for my daughter when she's trying to style her hair as her head keeps moving but it isn't really too much of a problem.
Each Lalaloopsy Silly Hair doll comes with a 'pet'. Crumbs Sugar Cookie's pet is a cute little mouse which has a bendy tail, much like her owners hair! The set also comes with a pink plastic hair brush and 10 different hair accessories (hearts, bows, biscuits, buttons and flowers). The hair brush is pretty useless as the hair isn't like real hair, it's more like thick strands of bendy plastic which can't really be brushed! I think the real idea of the brush is to twist the hair around it and create 'curls', although it's very fiddly and doesn't really create proper curls. My daughter doesn't usually bother with the brush any more. The hair accessories are lovely, although I do think there should be more included (there's only enough for 1 accessory on each strand of hair!). The hair accessories are easy for my daughter to push on to the strands of hair and they stay in place well. The box states that you can create 'crazy', 'endless' and 'wacky' hairstyles but you can't really, it's quite limited. My daughter does like to play with her Silly Hair doll but she normally just plays with it as a normal doll now (rather than using it to style her hair).
The doll seems like good quality. It's made from a thick, durable plastic (including the accessories and her clothes) and is in perfect condition over a year on. It's easy to wipe clean too, which is always handy. It's recommended for children 3+ years.
The Lalaloopsy Silly Hair Crumbs Sugar Cookie doll can be bought from many toy shops including Toys R Us, The Entertainer, Amazon and Argos. We paid £30.00 for her, although she can cost anything between £25.00 - 35.00. I think this is way too overpriced, especially for a doll that doesn't really do much. My daughter plays with a dolls styling head (which we bought for about £15.00 and it has proper hair to style) a lot more than she plays with her Lalaloopsy Silly Hair doll. I wouldn't really say to avoid the Lalaloopsy Silly Hair doll, but I would think that most children would benefit more from a regular Lalaloopsy doll or a Lalaloopsy Littles doll (which my daughter loves).
If you like your hairdressing to be hilarious, the Lalaloopsy Silly Hair Crumbs Sugar Cookie Doll is perfect for creating stupid styles, wacky waves and bizarre barnets. Crumbs Sugar Cookie has wild hair that you can curl, twist and straighten into any style imaginable. She comes with a hair brush and clips as well as her pet sugarmouse who's just as sweet as she is. This 33cm tall doll is perfect for Lalaloopsy collectors and anyone who values silliness over style when it comes to grooming.
