This bright pink barbie doll comes from the movie Barbie in a Fashion Fairytale. As it was one of my Daughters favourite films I decided to buy her this doll along with the DVD.
The packaging itself was an absolute pain to get into, with elastic and metal wires everywhere making it difficult to get the doll out without cutting her hair! She of course has the trademark Barbie blonde hair which is tied up in a glamorous ponytail with a small clip. She wears a small silver necklace around her neck. Her top half is a hard, non remove able pink, glittery corset/bodice. This is the part that flashes when the music is playing, she then has a silver belt with a shiny buckle, the buckle is where you press to play the music although this can be a bit fiddly as you have to press it in a certain place. She then has a gorgeous 4 layer bottom half to her dress, made up of various pink shades of tulle and glitter with some twinkling silver stars to add that Barbie sparkle.
Although you cannot actually remove the dress you can turn it. So it transforms from a long ball gown and then give it a twist and it's a mini dress. I don't mind this as you don't end up with naked barbie dolls everywhere and clothes scattered across the floor! My daughter has managed to lose the hair clip and necklace though as these are remove able and very tiny.
Underneath her skirt is the battery compartment. Now although the batteries are included with the doll, when the time comes to change them, this proves a little difficult as it is so small and diddly.
The music and flashing lights play for about 20 seconds and it is the same music that is repeated over and over again. Tedious!! The music is the theme tune from the movie of the same name but they could have added a few phrases just to mix it up a little.
I think £22.99 is pretty expensive for what it is but I would be happy to have paid half that price as it was played with for a couple of days and is now chucked in a box somewhere.
Little girls who love Barbie will definitely love it, but I don't think parents will appreciate the price tag for what it is.
"From the new movie, Barbie A Fashion Fairytale, Barbie stars as herself in her famous fashion show outfit that transforms from a ""princess gown"" to a ""party couture dress. With the press of a button, Barbie doll's bodice magically lights up and is synchronized to music from the movie's fashion show finale. To transform the dress, fold down the top of ""princess dress"" and flip/turn skirt around to reveal the ""party couture dress.Ages 3+"
