      Barbie styling head

Great stuff...another styling head arrives at the house, this time with the added bonus of being a singing one!

the styling head comes in its very own large box, with a try me button at the fron so that little people can hear the singing and incessant chatter before the box is even opened. Already, I'm loving it...not only does it have all those usual bits of plastic to undo which makes it almost impossible to get out of the box, but I'm having trouble getting at the box to get the thing out because Little Miss has her hands on the button!

Once out of the box, the doll is a head and shoulders with blonde wavy hair. She also comes complete with the obligatory brush, golden crown, hair clips and this time a fan. Also included are her three little friends- a monkey a red panda and a peacock. I'm not very up on this new film at the moment, not having had time to watch the whole thing but Little Miss assures me that these are friends.

      ~~Using the doll~~

Obviously, she is there to be styled but firstly, we have to work out how she sings. The styling head does require 4 AA batteries- thankfully these are included, so the production of a screw driver on Christmas morning isn't necessary.

As well as being able to adorn the styling head with the crown and various hair clips, there are 3 play modes, so you can sing karaoke style with the doll; for ease of use, the words to the song are included so there is no excuse for not being word perfect.

To get into music mode, the volume control, neatly located on the leaf has to be switched to high...the LED lights up and the doll greets you. There are 3 different songs she can sing, and if after you have heard one song, you want another, just press again.

talk mode gets the doll chatting to you. Again, slide the volume control and then press the jewel talk button (on her necklace). The doll and animals talk to each other, with the doll prompting you to get her ready for the ball.

If all this has given you a taste for more, then it's time for microphone mode. The microphone is actually the flower with an on off switch on it's stalk. To sing along with the doll, slide the microphone switch to on and then off you go.

So, plenty of bits and pieces to keep little lady amused, although she does like the styling bit best.

      ~~Price and Availability~~

RRP is £39.99 but shop around, especially now that Christmas is over.

This seems to be one of the mose recent Barbie films, so of course there was a bit of a niche in our house for something to do with the movie.

The doll is quite sturdy, and once an adult has read the instructions and explained all of the different modes, then it's quite simple for a child to follow. She does appeal to little people with the animal friends and bits of accessories. The only thing is that she comes with only a couple of clips which has been deemed as insufficient for a princess- Little Miss is insisting on putting as many of her own hair accessories on the doll as she can. This means that already her hair is getting matted and no amount of combing or brushing gets it to lose that raggy synthetic look.

That said, Little miss does like the styling head and quite happily sings along. It's not cheap for what you get but then as far as children's toys are concerned what is?

For anyone who likes the Barbie films and dolls, this will entertain them.

      Thanks for reading.
