A nice Barbie for Hollie's collection - she writes reviews too!

Hollie is a huge Barbie fan, she's had loads of these dolls passed down from her two older sisters but more recently has started asking for Barbie's when the time comes for a gift or treat. With this in mind I purchased the Blair doll from the 2011 Barbie Princess Charm School movie a few days before Hollie was due to have her ears pierced, thinking it would be a nice little something to give her in reward for being a brave girl. Now, there are several characters available within the Barbie range but Blair is not a character in her own right - Blair is played by Barbie in the film, so this is actually a Barbie doll dressed up as someone different! Confused? Hollie was! The doll stands around 12" high and is dressed exactly the same as you can see in the piccie above, there's an alternative Blair you can buy which comes with an additional outfit (a puffy pink Princess creation) but I bought Hollie this basic Blair as she already owns a very similar Barbie Princess dress to the one supplied with this doll. I must say, if a Birmingham school ever had this uniform I'd have been there - I've honestly never seen such a gorgeous school uniform! It's maybe a little too Britney Spears, but the short pink dress and long pink socks looks really great, the purple kitten-heeled shoes aren't what I'd have chosen to complete the outfit but I suppose they don't look too bad. Up close these shoes are actually very cheap looking, plasticky (as are the majority of Barbie shoes) and not at all styled to compliment the outfit or personality of Blair in my opinion. Not that it matters, Hollie lost one of the shoes within an hour of receiving the doll and the other one went into the bin immediately afterwards - as is often the case with these things, it's a good thing you can swap and change Barbie shoes otherwise half of Hollie's collection would be barefoot! The clothes all fit exceptionally well and are easy to take off and put back on again (shame, I really wish Barbie would make a range featuring non-removable clothes); the pink tiara on Blair's head being my only real issue with the outfit as it's fitted in such a way that as soon as you pull it off her head, however gently, it'll mess her hair up big style. As most of you will know, once Barbie's hair becomes messy it'll never look good again so this is a huge disadvantage in my opinion as I do like Hollie's dolls to look as nice as possible. While Blair's arms and legs are articulated, they are rigid at the knee and elbow so you can't really get her into a proper position to stand alone. You can lean her against things and she will sit down in a legs-splayed fashion, but this particular doll does tend to slump over quite quickly (due to the fabric of her dress I think) which can be frustrating for Hollie. This is something she'll get used to over time however and she seems to love this particular Barbie so much that it doesn't seem to be bothering her too much anyway. Of course, being a Barbie, this doll is of the highest quality. All limbs are secure to the body of the doll, thankfully the style of clothing on this particular Barbie stays in place so we have had no boob-baring incidents (apart from when Hollie decides Blair needs to be naked, for whatever reason). The small pink laptop that comes with Blair is of reasonable quality and is used much more than I thought it would be during Hollie's role play games - actually I heard Hollie talking about Blair writing a review while she was playing last night so it seems she does take some interest in what I get up to on my laptop! Incidentally, Blair was reviewing Hollie (as an owner I assume) who is definitely not in the Dooyoo catalogue! I really do like this doll; admittedly the school uniform she's wearing is a bit on the sexy side but this is Barbie, the one woman in the world who really could look sexy dressed in a bin bag.
