      Advantages

      Disadvantages

The only boy for twelve ladies!

Now this one confuses me and Little Miss and I are divided as to his role in the movie. i think (although I could be wrong) that he is a cobbler who is in love with one of the princesses and then suddenly, he is a Prince. All very confusing for an adult, but who am I to question the barbie logic?

With Barbie and the Twelve Dancing Princesses being such a hit in our house, it was imperative that we had the gentleman visit- after all, with twelve ladies, he is one lucky bloke!

      ~~What is he?~~

Basically, a Barbie boy in a Barbie world.

He stands slightly taller than Barbie at a very respectable 13" whereas Barbie usually measures in at about 12". (All measurements are approximate!! )

Brown coiffed hair, blue eyes, bendy arms and legs (but no gripping hands, he every inch the Prince/cobbler. He wears some rather flattering felt brown trousers, high olive green boots and a frilled top decorated with bronze pattern.

The best thing, and the reason I am convinced that he is the cobbler, is that he comes complete with 12 pairs of shoes; shoes in every conceivable style and colour. However, he does come with a crown as well so perhaps he is a cobbler come Prince.

      ~~What does he do?~~

He stands and impresses the ladies. There is no end to what he can do, depending on the imagination of the child. His arms and legs bend, so he can sit on the castle chairs, and perform dance moves with the princesses of choice.

      ~~Made by...~~

Mattel, the makers of all Barbie products, and a great little earner it is!

      ~~Price and Availability~~

This retails at £16.99, which is about the usual price for this kind of thing. In fact, he is probably quite a bargain because he has shoes, and lots of them.

      ~~What we think of him~~

Suffice to say that he was a necessity. There was no way we could have all of those princesses without a prince to complete the tribe.

The shoes of course have gone the distance- I really do think they should think about attaching all shoes to these dolls, but Derek's boots are still firmly on his feet. One fortunate thing about Derek is that he requires no batteries or setting up- he comes quite complete, and once out of hisbox can do any prince like things which are required of him.

Little Miss has played lots of role play with theses dolls, and derek, being the only man has featured heavily in the stories, marrying each princess in turn.

He is relatively sturdy, and as yet hasn't broken or lost his clothes or hair style.

For anyone with a passion for Barbie and the latest movie, this is a must.

      Thanks for reading.

      Daniela xx
