My little girl is mad about anything 'baby' related at the moment, stemming, I think, from the fact that at 18 months old she knows herself, that she is no longer a baby. One of her main gifts for CHristmas this year was a pram and a doll, but she also received a couple of smaller dolls from other family members. However, she doesn't quite have the imagination yet to know what to do with these dolls. Initially I gave her a spare plastic cup to use as a bottle for her new dolls, but I thought it would be nice if she had a proper doll's bottle and saw this set in Amazon for around £6.
There were some main things that attracted me to this product. Firstly, I really like the Melissa and Doug brand and anything that I have got my daughter or nieces and nephews from the range has always been of great quality and well received. Secondly, I liked the fact that the bottle in this set is a 'magic' bottle in that it is designed in such a way that when the bottle is tilted for the baby to drink, it looks as if the bottle is being drained and the milk is disappearing. Eventually it looks as if the milk has all been drunk, however once you set the bottle upright, it appears to be full of milk again. My daughter is a little young to quite understand the milk 'disappearing' and really appreciate it, but she still loves to give her little dolls their 'bo bo' as she calls it.
The pink bib that comes as part of the set is small. It can be attached around a doll's neck using the velcro, and it does hold pretty well. The slight downside is the size, and there is only one doll that this bib fits around.
This set has been designed for children from 18 months plus but I think it would be ideal from 1 year plus in terms of safety as there are no small parts. This bottle and bib set has given my daughter a little bit extra to play with, when it comes to her dolls. Apart from pushing the pram around and putting them to sleep, she didn't have the imagination to do anything else with them, but having this bib and bottle means she now can role play that little bit more, and the dolls have become a toy that she can play with for longer.
In my opinion this is a good set for little girls who like dolls. I think my daughter will appreciate the 'magic' element of this bottle as she gets a little bit older, but for now, it is a useful role playing tool. Like other Melissa and Doug toys this too is of good quality, just a pity the bib is so small.
