Mini Baby Born Hospital Ambulance
Advantages: Great for imagination
Disadvantages: The ramp can be a little annoying.
**The toy **
With the toy you receive an ambulance vehicle which is a lovely pink in colour and really girly while at the same time still has characteristics of an ambulance so it is appealing to little one and helps with their imaginary play. There are stickers already added on the ambulance and although they are a floral design and nothing to do with an ambulance it is still a nice addition as it makes it more interesting than a plain piece of plastic.
You also receive a dolly which is small and fits the set well her arms and legs move so little one can move her around freely and she has clothes to indicate she is a doctor that are easily recognisable to little one straight away. These clothes can be removed which makes them easy for washing and the little face has good detail in it along with a doctors mask attached that little one can pull over and off the dolls face.
Finally you receive a trolley with the set this has wheels that also move freely and can be easily pushed around by little one the idea of this is to put the dolly patient you revive separately with another baby born set on the trolley and for the doctor to push it on to the ambulance. Although of course it can be used without this dolly then the doctor is simply pushing an empty trolley on and off the ambulance which is a little disappointing as it would have been nice to receive a patient in the ambulance set.
All pieces are made of plastic but are durable enough for young children to play with and as it is recommended from 3 years plus it can withhold rough play easily although there are no flashing lights or fancy pieces to this set the trolley doll and ambulance make a good scene for little ones imagination to grow.
**In play **
The ambulance has wheels that move round easily it can be easily pushed around on both carpet and wooden flooring and it moves freely so there is no frustration with little one it turns corners well meaning it can be played with in a small area or pushed around the whole of the front room. Although the doors at the front of the vehicle do not work and are purely for looking at the whole front of the ambulance is open revealing the seats where you can easily put the doctor dolly in and out although the can be a fiddle sometimes as he doll is rather large my little girl soon learned how to do it herself meaning she could play independently. There are small grooves in the chair so the doll can sit firmly once inserted meaning no matter how much little once twists and turns the car the dolly sits upright in the seat.
At the back of the ambulance is the back door which you pull down and it creates a ramp for little one to wheel the trolley up and into the back of the bus which is roomy enough for the trolley provided but not much else. Then you lift the door back up and it seals the van up for the journey and can easily be lifted back down again so again little one can play independently or with mummy and daddy.
The doll fits well on the trolley and although on the main it is flat it has raised sides so that the doll can sit well without falling off too easily although it is not impossible to tip the trolley this is all part of the fun for my daughter.
As there are three pieces to this set it provides great imaginary fun for little one they get to play doctor with the doll and trolley while driving the ambulance also. We did find play was more enjoyable with the hospital you can purchase separately as then you actually receive another doctor and a patient for you to lay on the trolley as with the ambulance set itself although you are provided with the trolley and doctor it is a little limited as you can only complete play if you have a dolly small enough to lay on the table but play is limited with just these pieces and it does work better with other accessories in the set and I am sure it was purposely designed like this so you go out and by the rest of the products and build a bigger platform for little one to play.
My only negative is the ramp at the back of the ambulance has a tendency to fall off it does click back in to place easily but this means that every now and again my little girl has t stop play and come and ask me to come and fix it for her before she can put the trolley in. Although this does not seem to bother her much as this is a main interactive part of the set it could have been made a little better to allow for the constant use it will receive when this toy is being played with.
Each piece fits together well and work well on their own also so it can be used as a set or individually and we have had them for over a year now and apart from a small annoyance with the ramp on the ambulance the whole set is still in full working order and can just be wiped down with a cloth.
As there are other pieces available to buy including the hospital itself we do find it is more fun to have the whole set rather than just the ambulance on its own although as I mentioned it can be used individually.
My little girl really likes this set it is girly yet remains true to similarities with a real ambulance, doctor and doctors trolley it is simple yet entertaining and lets little ones imagination run wild. We actually brought ours from Morrison's when they had both the ambulance and hospital on sale for around £6 each but you can purchase this from Amazon, Argos and also supermarkets for around the £10 mark.
This has had hours of play and it is still one of my daughter favourite toys so I would highly recommend to anyone thinking of purchasing it for any little girl but be warned you may want to buy the other accessories in the set to complete the play set.
Summary: A great toy if brought at the right price
