My daughter really loves her dolls, and is into the Moxie Girlz range at the moment (after my niece introduced it to her!) and she already owns the mozie girlz mermaid kellan doll, so as a treat last week with my amazon voucher (courtesy of dooyoo) I bought her this Moxie Girlz Glittering Style avery doll. it was only £13.22 so didn't take up too much of voucher value and was a nice surprise for her when she got home to add to her collection!
The Avery doll essentially comes in a box and with a sticker sheet of 25 stickers, 2 tubes of glitter and a hair brush...already you can see the mess in our living room right? Lol. The concept is that the doll has her own unique style and you can add and create designs over and over by designing the blank canvas stickers and then attaching them to the outfit the moxie doll is wearing. In terms of the clothing the moxie girl has on, I must say she didn't really look like she needed anything additional but my daughter is practically obsessed with stickers and had lots of fun plastering them everywhere except on the doll!
Now, in terms of the tubes of glitter is where we got into a bit of trouble. Apparently this toy is for children aged 36 months - 8 years (according to amazon) but in argos it says for children aged 5+. In hindsight I actually think my daughter is perhaps a bit young for this toy as to apply the glitter to the stickers requires some supervision and a lot of skill and delicate craft so it doesn't look a huge mess. The tubes of glitter do have a slightly pointed tip so as to pour out evenly but of course, even a 3 year old could make mess in an empty room and mine is no exception so for her to get the glitter everywhere was a doddle. Of course, with my supervision she doesn't play with the glitter (although a week later it's all long finished by now) but I would advise anyone looking to get this toy in future to keep an eye out at all times.
As for the doll herself, she is rather good quality, and a bit bigger and chunkier than your standard barbie sized doll. She has long lovely blonde locks which my daughter enjoys brushing (good job it comes with a brush as she has lost the countless ones she received with her barbie and rapunzel doll) and as to date her hair has not matted or become knotty which is a plus as most her dolls don't make it this long.
Overall, I think this doll is a good buy, and relatively inexpensive at just over £13 on amazon (£16.99 in argos). As a doll she is fun to play with and my 3 year old enjoys talking to her as her "friend" (perhaps a sign I need to give her a brother or sister!) but I think the glitter and style aspect is a bit wasted as once she had made her mess with it she lost interest in that aspect. I would recommend it as a nice christmas present perhaps for a 4/5 year old with a fun penchant for dolls :)
