Peppa Pig Peppa's World of Playset
Advantages: Nests together and has a carry handle
Disadvantages: Everything else
When I saw this set I thought my daughter would love it as she is a major Peppa pig fan. The idea is you get six different buildings all related to Peppa pig so you can build a Peppa pig world to play in providing hours of fun but for us this is not the case.
When we first received this it seemed like a fair size box and I was excited wrapping it for my little girl as I was sure she would love it. Once it came to opening the present and taking the contents from the box I was really disappointed as the house was tiny and I did wonder how it would manage to fit five different buildings inside and it was really small in width and although it has an ok height to it we were really disappointed. My daughter was still really happy and hurriedly opened up the house to reveal the other buildings hiding inside. What we did like was there is a carry handle at the top of the main house meaning it can be packed away taking up little space and can be carried around wherever little one wants to go and play with ease.
**The main house**
This has a catch on the front that holds all the buildings in place so to open it up you unhook the lock to reveal the other buildings hiding inside. The main house is on hinges and does have a front and back of course to enclose the play set inside. The door opens and closes and there are some windows but that is about it. The door itself is tiny and although all the children characters from the range can just about fit through it my daughter was very distressed that mummy and daddy pig could not enter their own house using the door and had to be brought round the back and through the open side left from opening the house up.
There is a small platform on the second floor to act as a play area but you can just about get two characters standing side by side on this ledge and you cannot move them around or they will take a plunge from the very small platform which has happened a few times so my daughter has given up trying to use this although she does place the bath from her peppa pig palace on here for show.
There are stickers to illustrate the different parts of the house but other than that there is nothing interactive or even interesting about it, really it is just a plastic shell with a few stickers stuck to it and I found after a small time my daughter became very bored of it and it has sat in her toy box.
I am unsure if this is supposed to be a doctor's surgery or the Vets as my daughter uses it to make believe for both options so I suppose that is a positive. This again is a hinged house that has 2 sides to it but again no real space to play and she tends to play in front of the building as the slightest knock sends the building toppling over. Inside are stickers suggesting a waiting room and cabinets but that is about it.
**Cafe, toys shop, play den and dolls house**
The reason I put these all together although they are four different pieces is they are fairly useless. As each house decreases in size and the first house that holds them all is small itself it means these pieces really are just for looking at rather than playing in which I thought when I purchased them. They all have stickers to illustrate what they are supposed to be but that is it as they are so small when my daughters tries to play in the small space provided inside the house she just ends up knocking them over so she has now decided she will use them as props and just play at the front of the buildings pretending they are inside. She was really disappointed and did not understand why they were so small and to be honest they receive little play now as she just becomes frustrated with them. The doll's house is just a block of plastic there is n room to play inside but my daughter did like it fitted inside the play den as this is where it is supposed to be like the program I was told. This did leave no room for playing but as she tends to play in front of the buildings she really did not mind.
**Durability and accessories**
The buildings are each made out of plastic that is hard wearing but very thin meaning they are light which is great when they are all put together and little one is carrying the set around but in terms of playing with them means they can be knocked over very easily and half the time is spent putting them back in place. The 2 buildings with working doors and hinges are still intact but to be honest they have not receive much play to really test them.
With this set other than the houses you get the grand total of one figure and this is Peppa pigs that if your child owns any of the other Peppa pig play sets you probably have a number of. To make this set a little more interesting and to build a base for little one to use their imagination you really would have to buy other accessories like figures and vehicles to make it a little more interesting. Of course this comes at a price and with a set of figures costing anything from £6-£9 for three it can become pricey. We were lucky we have a number of accessories from other sets including a vehicle which my daughter uses to travel to each building and more characters to use in each of the locations.
My daughter did play with this set on occasions but it has mainly sat in her toy box. When she did attempt to play with it she enjoyed the fact she could nest them all together and carry the set around but once she laid out the pieces within five minutes they were forgotten about and she had moved on.
We were really disappointed with this set the box is misleading and the whole idea of building a peppa pig world really is a marketing scheme at getting you to purchase more toys from the range. The buildings act as good decoration pieces for children to play but there really is no room for them to use inside these buildings at all and when my daughter does try to use them they simply fall over.
You can buy this set from any leading retailer including supermarkets and toy stores and it retails at £29.99. I really would not recommend this set if I knew just how poor it was I would have avoided this set completely. We managed to get it for a reduced price of £15 at Tesco but I honestly do not even think it was worth that and would have been even more disappointed if I paid full price. This is a big let down from the Peppa pig range.
