We have recently been given this dolls house from our sister in law whose daughter didn't use it anymore and my 6 year old has been delighted with it ever since. She regularly played with the ELC Rosebud House which she has had for a couple of years, but aimed at toddlers it was starting to look a little babyish for her so this step up is absolutely perfect.

We were given it around 2 months ago and we have made so many alterations and renovations on the property already! The fact that it is wooden make it so versatile but also durable. As it is wooden we have been able to buy tester pots of paint from our local DIY shop and we have painted it a soft blue outside and all different colours inside. We have even wallpapered a few walls (this was quite fiddly and needed help from daddy as we had to measure it precisely).

I love the fact that it is wooden as it will last for years to come and hopefully one day she will be able to give it to her own children who will be able to renovate it once again! It is fairly tall at just short of 100cm tall, 65cm wide and 31cm deep. The sash windows open which is a nice touch as not all dolls houses that I have seen do open. The two floors each has a separate hinged front opening, so the first floor can be closed while you play with the ground floor. The attic is accessed by simply pushing the roof backwards.

Luckily, as we already had the Rosebud dolls house accessories as well as the few items of furniture that came with it when we were given it. We have started to buy proper dolls house furniture and accessories here and there but to save it being sparse for the time being, it has meant she has been able to play with it straight away.

The attention to detail on the house is just lovely and it has a definite Victorian feel. My daughter will play with it for hours and really gets carried away with her own imagination when playing with it. It also gives hours of fun as you decorate each room to how you want it to look and she loved choosing the colour schemes of her very own first house! A basement can also be easily added to give extra room but we have more than enough to do for the time being on our little project (I have adopted it with consent from my daughter!).

This particular dolls house have been around for years and my sister in law remembers paying around £70 for it a number of years ago, but now they retail for around £145 but you can pick them up for about £100 if you do your research. In 2004 the dolls house was runner up of a Mini World Award and it has also won the Right Start Best Toy award

Thoroughly recommended, a beautifully constructed toy, which we are all very proud of.

I cannot recommend this dolls house enough! We are very particular about our daughters toys, we generally buy her wooden toys, which not only look fantastic, but will last. This was a very important first birthday present for her, which from day one she has loved. It is our intention that this will have years and years of play, it will then be boxed up into the attic and given to her, for her children to play with.

We purchased the Victorian Dollshouse, but also bought an additional ground floor, with which you get a set of stairs, which lead up to the front door. The dimensions are 98 cm in height, 65 cm in width and 32 cm depth.

It was fantastically simple to put together. Each floor is split into two 'rooms' which are separated by the stair case. It has wonderful sash windows which can be opened and shut, the front door swings inwards and as you look at the dolls house, each level opens separately, with the hinge on the left hand side. The attic is revealed by lifting the roof up, which then lays back.

We bought the dolls house (including the lower floor) for approximately £220, which came with 5 furniture or accessory packs. We chose the family pack - mum, dad and two children, kitchen, bedroom, lounge, bathroom and childrens bedroom. This then filled the house with all the accessories that were needed. Subsequent birthdays or pocket money sprees have seen additions of nursery furniture and family pets etc. As the child gets older and more responsible, it is possible to buy the smaller accessories to fill each room.

All in all, this is a stunning present for a little girl (admittedly quite expensive for a first birthday, however, it will give her years and years of enjoyment). She spends hours playing families and rearranging all the furniture!

The dolls house sits proudly in our lounge, on show and gets lots of admiration from visitors.

Each floor is accessible with opening panels; realistic sashes that slide open and shut. Additional attic space can also be made into any kind of room your child desires.
