Sylvanian Families are ever so cute little animal families which have little houses and accessories for your children to play with. They are extremely good quality and excellent at creating imaginative play which is very important for young children as they are growing up.
This pram is just one of the many items you can buy for your Sylvanian Families. The pram is only small- about 3 inches long but it has so much detail in it it's fantastic! It has a wooden body, plastic wheels and handle and a cotton hood. Even though it is small you can still fit in two little babies although one fits in more comfortably.
The hood pulls up so that you can protect your little Sylvanian baby from the elements! This is easy to do so your child won't get frustrated if they can't manage it. This hood is white and has a little frill around the edge. It also has a little padded mattress that fits into the shape of the pram snugly and is a lovely idea. This is white with a frill around the edge too and makes it much more comfortable for the baby to lie on.
It comes with a little blanket and a tiny teddy bear too which is a lovely touch. The pram itself is dark blue with a little grey flowery pattern on the side.
The wheels turn so it can be pushed along. These squeak a little bit but nothing too loud so that it could be annoying to listen to!
What I love about this is the attention to detail is really something else. It could be so easy to just make a basic pram but this has really been thought through from the tiny teddy to the lovely padded mattress which fits perfectly. The handle of the pram is the right height too for any of the adult Sylvanians to be able to hold it properly.
My grandchildren love playing with this and I can see why. I really am very impressed with it and think it makes a lovely toy.
My daughter's latest 'thing' is Sylvanian Families. Sylvanian Families are toys which have been going for years, I have fond memories of playing with them as a child in the late 1980's/early 1990's. The toys come in the form of little animal characters (that wear clothes) which are made from flocked plastic. The characters began as woodland creatures (foxes, rabbits, hedgehogs etc) but now include other animals such as cats, elephants, meerkats and penguins. Sylvanian houses, cars and furniture are also available. There is SO much Sylvanian Families merchandise to collect.
The latest addition to my daughters Sylvanian Families collection is a 'luxury' baby pram. The pram comes in a small and nicely decorated cardboard box. There is a picture of the pram on the front. Rather cheekily the picture includes 2 baby characters (inside the pram) and an adult character (pushing the pram), however there are no characters included with the pram.
The pram is very pretty and has lots of nice detail. It's an old fashioned style pram and is made solely of plastic. It's a dark blue colour (so slightly different to the one pictured above) with a white floral pattern on either side. It has 4 big brown wheels and matching handle. There is a white spotty material blanket inside the pram (edged with lace) which can be folded in a way to put two babies inside the pram and keep them separate. The pram also has a material white spotty hood, which is edged by lace and matches the blanket. The hood can be pushed down and pulled up, although it doesn't stay down which is a little disappointing (it pings back up when you take your hand off). The hood does seem quite fragile (my daughter is very careful when playing with her pram) but aside from that the pram is very sturdy and durable. The pram is quite small but a perfectly good size for Sylvanian Family characters. There is enough space inside for up to two Sylvanian babies and the height of the handle is just right for Sylavnian adults to push the pram around! There are also 2 tiny accessories included - a toy car and a teddy shaped rattle. The accessories are made of plastic and are very cute, although they are really tiny. My daughter loves fiddly toys, so she really likes the car and rattle (and giving them to her Sylvanian babies - they fit in to their hands). The wheels of the pram actually move, which is a really nice feature to have as it allows my daughter to push her Sylvanian babies around and use her Sylvanian adults to push the pram around. The only downside of the wheels are that they were quite squeaky, which I didn't expect from a good quality toy. However after greasing up the wheels a bit, they are fine now.
The pram is suitable for children 4+ years. You wouldn't want to give it to children any younger because there are lots of small parts and also because parts of the pram (the hood) are quite fragile. Our Sylvanian Families Pram came from The Entertainer and cost £6.00. It's widely available and generally costs between £5.00 - 6.50. This may seem quite pricey for a tiny little pram with no characters, but all Sylvanian Families merchandise is quite expensive. Overall this is a nice addition to my daughters Sylvanian Families collection and something she loves playing with.
WHAT IS IT?
A large old fashioned pram suitable for holding two Sylvanian Families babies. It is best used with the babies that lie down but you can arrange the ones who are crawling into place to push them in the pram too.
The pram my daughter has got is navy blue with a gold frame and a white hood. The hood goes up and down but doesn't feel very strong so you have to be careful not to do it too much. The handle is the right height for an adult figure to push the pram and the shape looks beautiful with the dated designs of the Sylvanian Families clothes.
WHAT I THINK
I only paid £5 for this pram and didn't know at the time but it came with an accessories pack. The accessories are very good but tiny so you have to be careful not to lose them. The mattress is already inside the pram and you also receive a towel, rattle and teether. The rattle is shaped like a teddy bear and slips onto the hand of any Sylvanian baby so they can hold it themselves, it's the same with the teether but the gripped effect isn't as good with that.
The pram is very sturdy and the wheels rotate smoothly when my daughter is using the pram. She prefers to put two babies in the pram and display it instead of playing with it very often, she keeps it in a room in one of the Sylvanian Families buildings and only takes it out if she is holding a party for her figures or if her game needs a baby and pram.
It's a beautiful item and one I think my daughter will treasure into the future. It is of very high quality and looks like it cost a lot more money than it did, this pram is one of the most attractive items in my daughters collection and was almost the cheapest. It is designed to be recognisable as a Sylvanian Families product but because it doesn't come with any figures could be used for any dolls house or collection of small dolls.
