A good set but designed poorly

My daughter loves Sylvanian Families and her most recent edition was the Lollipop and Dinner Lady set.

The reason I brought this set was that I find it very hard to get Lauren to talk about what she done at school, the children she has played with etc so I thought this would encourage her to talk about the days events.

The dinner lady is Mrs Dorothy Patch, she comes fully clothed in her dress and tabard, and there are also a stew pot and some cooking utensils.

The Lollipop man is Mr Eric Renard, he comes fully clothed in a high visibility jacket, black trousers and a cap. He also has his own lollipop. I was really disappointed with this aspect of the set, the width of the lollipop is too wide to fit into the figures hands, at first I thought it was because the set was new and it was a little stiff however under further inspection, I can clearly see that the lollipop is wider than the Mr Renards hands. Unfortunately, because Lauren had spent 10 minutes trying to get the lollipop to fit in, the felt/fur started to come away from the figurines hands. Lauren was quite upset and when we play with all of her Sylvanians, she tends to leave the lollipop man alone, I suppose not being able to hold his lollipop makes him redundant!

The concept of the product is really good, I have managed to find out a lot more about who Lauren plays with at dinner, the games she plays etc. Quite often when she plays, I don't have to ask any questions as I can understand what she gets up to just from observing.

The RRP of the set is around £12, luckily, I managed to pick mine up for around £6 in the January sales. If, like me, you have a little one which loves Sylvanian's, I would always recommend shopping around, the RRP of these items is ridiculous but there are always lots of bargains to be had and I have never paid full price for anything we have brought from the range. Argos, Amazon and John Lewis always seems to have some good discounts and on the run up to Christmas, Toys R Us always have a 3 for 2 or a free set of animals with a £30 spend offer - This is when I tend to stock up. The list of products available is huge, every year Flair bring out a new set of animals or accessories, prices vary depending on what you buy baby animals can be purchased from around £5, sets of 7 animals are normally £20 and accessories and houses range for £5 up to £120

Overall, whilst we love the product, the issue with the lollipop really spoiled it for me and for that reason; I am only giving 3 out of 5 stars.

      Thanks for reading.
